The third follow-up for Strategy First's successful turn-based fantasy strategy game revolves around a newly playable race. While Guardians of the Light and Servants of the Dark focused the game's good and evil factions, Rise of the Elves allows gamers to take command of the sylvan, elder race, for the first time in the series. This stand-alone expansion features more than 35 new Elven units and eight new quests, in addition to a number of improvements made to the gameplay and map-making tools introduced in earlier releases.<br><br>The game's rich back story involves the powerful entities who created the realm of Nevendaar. The world was built by immortal beings, who created the trees, the oceans, and the mountains, as well as the Elves, the Merfolk, and the Dwarves. Yet through centuries of mortal time -- only moment to the immortals -- what began as an existence of harmony and peace was transformed into a world of discord and conflict. Perhaps the last hope for salvation, the immortal patron of the Elves Gallean has now returned, and must unite his children's divided tribes to stand against a growing evil that threatens them all.<br><br>This "Gold" version of The Rise of the Elves includes a previously unreleased campaign which extends the epic Elven storyline.

A Little TOO Much...
Okay, I will start by saying that Disciples: Sacred Lands is one of my favorite games. I bought it in 2000 right after it came out in 1999. Turn-based strategy games are my joy. So I was a little disappointed when I finally decided to step up to Disciples II: Rise of the Elves. I think in trying to bring more features and a better interface to the game the designers have gone too far. I think there is too much "stuff" in the interface and the features just don't add that much to the game play. I do like the added levels for the characters. I also appreciate the idea of the AI having the ability to move now. Okay, maybe it is just the interface which I have a problem with. This is a Excellent Game, the spell and magics!
I'm a fan of strategy and RPG games and this is a excellent strategy game with spells and magics! With this game you can play for very long time...

Great game! If you have the "Disciples II Gold, this has the same features in it, minus the expansion packs for the 4 original races (Empire, Undead Hordes, Legions of the Damned, Mountain Clans) What I do hope to find in here is the expansion pack for the Elf race. This is a new race for the Disciples game. I haven't finished going through the elf campaign yet but so far it is amazing. As for game play, everything is pretty easy to figure out. If you've played the first Disciples game, it's almost the same thing here, just updated graphics and visuals. As far as movement and play, it's the same idea. You're going to love this. There's also more of a story compared to the first game. As you go through the campaign, cut-scenes occur that give way to more story-line so you aren't just ... Great game!
