I had a Garmin 60csx for 7 years, a great bit of kit, but I wanted something with a bigger screen and that can also easily be used like a in-car satnav/GPS (like a Tomtom type thing) as I work in the Middle East and use it driving about but also on foot. This fits the bill exactly. Even though I am used to using a Garmin it took a little bit of using and playing around with to get used to the menus, no big deal though. The screen is fantastic, clear and easy to read, the touch-screen is responsive even with gloves on. I have downloaded BirdsEye imagery for it which works fantastic. The waypoints and locations I had on my laptop (MacBook Air) on Basecamp from my old GPS transferred across no problems as to be expected. It has MGRS if you were wondering, which I use. Note though; this is a fat and heavy bit of kit. It curves or humps out at the back so is chunky, it's not a lightweight slim line GPS. But the large easy to read touch screen and extensive features are worth it. What this doesn't do isn't worth doing. Other guys I work with have seen it and rate it so have brought others for them too.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I used this GPS to navigate a self-drive Safari inTanzania. I programed it with OSM (free) maps for the area ans it got us out of a couple of dodgy situations. Its waterproofness meant that it was unaffected by the ever-present dust and it survived being bounced around on the floor (!) of a Land Rover Defender on horrible washboard rutted roads.I also shrugged off the heat and direct sun. If you are going to use it in a vehicle I can recommend the Garmin vehicle mount as well.

This GPS Receiver have lots of features and options. You can use this receiver for hiking, geocaching, bicycling, boating and as car navigator (you got to buy proper maps). It is much bigger and heavier than smartphones. Really rugged design. You need to install Garmin software for your computer to load maps and stuff in your device. You got to tweak several settings for your purposes. It takes some time and effort to learn use this device properly. This device is not for people with poor computer skills. When maps are loaded and settings set correctly this is really excellent device and it becomes fairly easy to use this device.
