Simple Installation - Works Great
Saw some reviews elsewhere complaining about the instructions. The package included a stick-on template to drill and cut necessary holes. All necessary instructions appeared to be printed directly on the template. I used a high speed metal cutting disc to cut the square hole, and detailed the top edge exactly as drawn on the template. The supplied hardware may have been adequate but I substituted larger / heavier clips and used some No.10 pointed screws to make the attachment easier. My stove pipe was heavy gauge proper stove pipe, so there was no need for additional holes or hardware to get a good seal with the provided gasket material on the two side flanges. I did use some high temp stove cement to seal the top and bottom edges. This fan instantly solved my problem of slight ... Saw some reviews elsewhere complaining about the instructions. It also makes starting a new fire heat up much faster. Once the fire is established I can either leave the fan on low or shut ir completely off. I thought there might be some leakage around the fan shaft. It appears to be a large hole, but smoke goes right up the stack with no apparent desire to come out that hole. Excellent product, does exactly what they said it would do.

Helps start fires.
Occasionally during outside mid temp weather or low barometric pressure, my add on furnace would be slow to start or hard to get heat out of. Occasionally it would also smoke out of the door when checking fire or adding wood. On the furnace jacket I mounted and wired a switched outlet to plug this into, easily reachable from front of furnace. When the chimney draft meter shows low draft, 2 or lower, I switch it on with the variable speed left at half way up on the dial. Seldom do I leave it run all the time but I can get a fire going, turn it off and walk away often in half the normal time it used to take. The motor does get hot running at any speed, not from flue heat. It also leaked smoke at the curved housing joint that was hard to see without a flashlight. I sealed it ... Actually they admit it right in the instructions! It says IF smoke comes out of unit when you have a fire then the motor MUST be running. Now WHEN will smoke emit? Well when you have a DRAFT problem...and WHY are you buying one to begin with? Because you have a DRAFT problem ...So the bottom line if you install one of these when you have poor draft, it HAS TO RUN ALL THE TIme you have a fire going or carcinogenic toxic smoke will emit in your home through what they call "the motor cooling vent" or something like that...If you hold this unit in your hands you can see a gaping space between the motor mounting plate and the round housing. beind the plate is a HUGE hole right into the space where the fan rotates which once you cut a hole in your chimney all becomes the SAME place smoke is ... Power DOES fail and motor controllers and motors DO also fail so the thing is a time bomb waiting to pour smoke in your home. ... in my opinion this device ought to be banned from ebay and all other sellers...this same company apparently makes an "inline draft inducer" that looks like it should be safe but not this one ...now why on earth they felt the need to have a gaping hole instead of sealing it up? I can only guess...surely they COULD have engineered it differently...maybe someone else has a patent or who knows but this unit in my opinion is unsafe as is ...should not even be sold. I plan on telling the the world any way I can....

Solved the smoke problem
This blower solved our smokey stove problem. Even on the lowest speed, it provides plenty of draft for a nice burning fire with all the smoke exiting through to the outside. Runs with moderate noise which is ok for the shop we're using it in, but perhaps not ideal for living areas.
