Jean Rawitt has done a masterful job of describing the dementia experience and its impact on the individual, families, and society. In fact, I have already recommended this book to young people who are dealing with elderly relatives with dementia.--Charles Mobbs, Ph.D., professor of Neuroscience and Geriatrics, Mount Sinai School of Medicine While Loving Someone with Dementia is targeted to teens, it is a tremendously valuable book for anyone who knows someone with cognitive decline. A clear and consolidated guide to understanding dementia on a practical level, it provides a wealth of specific things to do and think about during every stage of a complicated disease. This book should be in the hands of every family member and health aide who helps with the care of someone with dementia.--Adi Loebl, MD, Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrist, Chief Medical Officer, Ackerman Institute for the Family, With the U.S. population growing older and people living longer, Rawitt contends that teens are increasingly likely to know and need to assist someone with dementia. Part of the Empowering You series, this comprehensive manual offers support in understanding this neurocognitive disorder. The book begins with an introduction to what dementia is (identifying Alzheimer's as a kind of dementia and not an interchangeable term) and a thorough look at the stages of dementia and the challenges associated with each one. As the author discusses ways to care for individuals with dementia, ways dementia can affect family and friends, and activities to share with someone with dementia, she maintains a teen focus by addressing such concerns as family embarrassment, guilt, and financial burdens, and by providing tips, such as talking slower and in a lower pitch to ease communication. The last chapters focus on facing death (including hospice care and what happens after death) and the importance of self-care. An extensive list of supporting resources rounds out this helpful guide. list of supporting resources rounds out this helpful guide.list of supporting resources rounds out this helpful guide.list of supporting resources rounds out this helpful guide., With the U.S. population growing older and people living longer, Rawitt contends that teens are increasingly likely to know and need to assist someone with dementia. - o***l (310)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letztes JahrBestätigter KaufThe item was described to a Tee. Very good communication. Shipping was just a little slow. The box the set of books comes in was damaged (bent corners) due to packaging. Not a deal breaker because the grand kids will not store in that box; might be if it were to be given as a present. The three books in the box arrived in prefect shape. I WOULD purchase from greatbookprices1 again in the future. ThanksConstruction Site Board Books Set, Hardcover by Rinker, Sherri Duskey; Lichte... - i***y (710)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter Kauf2 volumes of Pogo comic strips, new and in perfect condition. Price was good, but shipping cost ($30 for two books) seems like a lot for how long it took to get delivered (23 days from Illinois to Spain). Also, seller communication was not great. First two times I wrote, their response did not address question. Third response explained at length about the private courier service they use and how it should take 1-10 business days to deliver. Maybe they should consider a different courier service.
- r***_ (107)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter Kauf*Same as the other review* Purchased two box sets from this seller with one being advertised as "like new" but was delivered as if it was actually new. Shipping time was a little slow, takes about 10 days to ship out and it takes a while to get through the system. But the packing was great and I'm still overall happy with my purchase.
