Part 2 of the Circle Trilogy is good. Obviously, it is a must read as a part of the Circle Trilogy. The main character continues his travels between the real world and the dream world ("Black", the 1st book in the trilogy, sets up the fact that the main character lives in 2 worlds; one when he is awake here, and another when he is asleep here.) DO NOT TRY READING THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE FIRST BOOK IN THE TRILOGY! YOU MUST READ "BLACK" FIRST TO TRULY UNDERSTAND AND ENJOY "RED". Overall, I wouldn't give this book as much credit as the first or the third, but it was a good middle book. The 2nd book in any trilogy is always the most difficult to write. The author is presented with the problem of starting where there is not really a start, and ending where there is not a true ending. Dekker does keep the story moving with more of his legendary plot twists, deep character development (I actually felt like I knew these people personally by the middle of this book), and taut suspense. In the dream world, this book presents the sacrifice of the character that represents Christ; just as with the 1st book, however, don't let the fact that this book is characterized as "christian fiction" bother you if you are not a "christian". The books stand alone without the Christ metaphors, but if you are a christian, it does present an interesting metaphorical spin on the sacrifice that Christ made at the cross. In the real world, the development of the virus is further explained and there is far more information regarding the who, why and how about the "bad guys". Writing "Red" must have been a formidable task, but Dekker continues the story with great panache and maintains your interest as he leads you to the climactic finish in "White", the final installment of the trilogy.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I WASN'T MUCH AN AVID READER... STARTED ON FRANK PERETTI'S NOVELS WHEN A STRANGER SUGGESTED THAT I TRY READING TED DEKKER'S..... WOW! TRULY A PAGE TURNING TRILOGY... DEKKER HAS A WAY OF NOT JUST GRABBING YOU BUT SUCKING YOU INTO HIS WORLD AND HOLDING YOU THERE. HIS DESCRIPTIONS ARE SO REAL... YOUR SURE TO FIND YOURSELF WRAPPED IN THIS SERIES AND POSSIBLY LOSE SLEEP FROM NOT BEING ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN. I WAS LONGING TO BE A PART OF THIS FASCINATING PLOT! EVIL IS OFTEN CLOTHED AS GOOD AND VICE VERSA... MAKES ONE REALLY STOP AND LOOK DEEPER. FANTASTIC SERIES! ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT AFTER I FINISHED BLACK RED & WHITE I STILL WANTED MORE!

I bought this book because it is the 2nd book of the circle trilogy. The first is called Black and I suggest reading that before reading this one...if you plan on reading either at all. Anyways...this book was much more exciting than the previous and was well worth the money I payed for it. This small review might give some things about the book away so if you haven't read it yet...beware. There could be spoilers. In the book, Tom is the leader of the Forest Guard army and they are constantly being attacked by the Desert Dwellers. While working on fighting these mind sick creatures, he starts dreaming again in search of answers on how to fight back his enemy and the location of the Books of History. Betrayal, death, and faith run wild in this 2nd exciting book, Red.
Definitely read Green first so you understand what's happening in Red. This is an awsome series! It took me a bit to get into it... I think I was on p 48 of Green when it captured me... but I love these books. Great stories with surprising twists. Buy all three cause when you finish one, you'll want the next one!
