A true fan's delight!
I purchased Garfield: Holiday Celebrations DVD as a stocking stuffer for my husband. He loved Garfield as a child & always complains that the holiday specials are no longer aired on television. The DVD contains 3 short films: one for Halloween, one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas. You can opt to play them all in a row or you can select one movie at time. The Halloween & Christmas specials were aired on TV in the late 80's to early 90's. I'm not sure about the Thanksgiving one as neither my husband or I recognized it. The three tales feature the classic "dry humor" of Garfield. There is also a bit of a moral to each story. It is definitely family-friendly. The DVD plays in English & Spanish. I don't speak Spanish, but found it somewhat entertaining to switch to Spanish mode & hear ... I purchased Garfield: Holiday Celebrations DVD as a stocking stuffer for my husband. This DVD contains several Garfield cartoons including one of my all time favorite cartoon classics: Garfield's Halloween Adventure. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Garfield's Halloween Adventure. It starts out with Garfield knowing nothing about Halloween, but once he discovers that he can get free candy on Halloween night, just by Trick Or Treating, he is hooked. He even decides to take Odie along so he can get double the candy. He and Odies dress up as pirates then take to the streets on Halloween night, which is where the real adventure begins. This show has become a Halloween tradition at my house since it was first aired many years ago. For our family, 'it just ain't Halloween unless we watch Garfield's Halloween Adventure'. Good fun, good memories.
Well I am a 26 year old male, and I used to watch all of the holiday specials on T.V. every year since I was old enough to remember. They remind me of good times in my life. Now that cable T.V. has taken over, the older holiday specials are rarely aired. Growing up, I was always a huge Garfield fan and I have carried that fanhood into my adult years. I was thrilled when I found this DVD for sale on Ebay, and bought it as soon as I saw it. When it arrived I set aside some time to watch it with my 3 step children (10, 8, and 6). We made popcorn and watched Garfield Halloween and The Great Pumpkin, and they seemed to enjoy it as much as I did at that age. I think this tradition will carry over to another generation. If your thinking about buying this dvd you probably have a story ... Well I am a 26 year old male, and I used to watch all of the holiday specials on T.V. every year since I was old enough to remember. They remind me of good times in my life. These Holiday Specials Make Me A Kid Again
These Garfield Holiday Specials were first released on television during the 1980s when my children were all still living at home. They are excellant entertainment and I still love to watch them. Garfield's films have a bit of my favorite characteristic ... "depth", meaning that there are things happening that take several viewings to notice. For example, if you have this disk (or are getting it) watch carefully the skull-and-crossbones on Garfields hat when he is startled by the old man in the haunted house (in Garfield's Halloween Special). I used to own this disk but it became lost, so of course I had to buy another I recommend it to everyone.These Garfield Holiday Specials were first released on television during the 1980s when my children were all still living at home. wonderful memories
i loved this dvd because growing up me and my brother watched garfield christmas every christmas day, it was recorded on vhs. well vcr's left with the times so we couldnt watch it anymore, mom did something with the tape so when i found this i knew i had to buy it. It was brand new, still in the wrapper so that was excellent then not only did it come with christmas, it came with thanksgiving and halloween which neither one of us had ever seen!!
