This film takes place in the same world as "An American Werewolf in London" where people have heard rumors of strange human-beasts, but most people don't believe in them. It's a horror comedy about a cop demoted to looking up "animal attacks" who soon finds out that maybe those rumors aren't so crazy after all! The humor here is lightly sprinkled in with plenty of horror, some crime drama, a dash of ghost story, and a surprising amount of action. The Native American theme is a breath of fresh air without retreading the dull old "noble natives, mystical wolf" theme and, even though clunky, the special effects work great. Overall it's a fun film and worth watching for fans of light horror.
Pros + Not your basic were-person type of movie. + Who would ever suspect such a beautiful woman? Great mystery element. + Shows just how much attention men pay to women. Cons - Ends really quick with no real sense of closure. - Acting is a little cheesy but in a fun way. - Not sure a deer woman could really kill someone so easily. Comments Deer Woman is a nice collection to the Masters of Horror series. I would like to see what she could do against Landis's American werewolf. It is also funny how the detective imagines what may have happened to the victims. Nice effects as well. Verdict Must see for any horror fan.
This "movie" (an hour long cable episode of the Masters of Horror series) is one of those perfect balances of horror and comedy. Brian Benben is just so likeable in the role, and John Landis lends his excellent directing style to the whole affair. This is definitely my favorite of the Masters of Horror series. If you want more straight and ghastly horror from that series, you should check out "Right to Die".....but get "Deer Woman" for sure.

What it means is that this movie is awesome! If you like anything else that John Landis has done then give this a watch. Last Halloween my friend bought the box set of "Masters of Horror" and this one stood out amongst the rest. It's a movie that doesn't take itself too serious, it's fun to watch and even some of the acting is a little hoaky at times but it's also some of the movies charm. You'll want to show your friends who haven't seen it and it even has a couple of spots that'll make you jump. I bought it because I had a hankerin' to watch it and didn't own it. Plus I had told people about it but couldn't show it to them. It's not something you can go out and rent and it's not a movie that a lot of people have so if you come across the movie pick up and have fun.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Masters of Horror - Deer Woman I'm curious as to why Deer Woman is in the Masters of Horror series and not the Masters of Movies that are incredibly Funny series. I guess it is a horror movie due to the fact that it has a Half Deer/Half Woman who goes around killing men, and it does have it's creepy moments, but Deer Woman is more of an action/comedy movie. If you come into Deer Woman expecting a scary movie, you might leave a little dissapointed. Deer Woman is the best movie in the Masters of Horror series because it isn't scary. It has some of the funniest scenes I've ever seen in a scary movie. Brian Benben (Dwight Faraday) and Anthony Griffith (Officer Jacob Reed) are absolutely stupendous in this film. Cinthia Moura (Deer Woman) is very beautiful and does a good job as the Deer Woman. Final Verdict: 5/5 Rent or Buy?: This is another must buy in the Masters of Horror series. A unique story, superb cast, and great direction make this a great film, horror or not. IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE. Thank you.Vollständige Rezension lesen
