Reviews
Praise for THE ART OF HEARING HEARTBEATS: "[A] love story set in Burma...imbued with Eastern spirituality and fairy-tale romanticism...Fans of Nicholas Sparks and/or Elizabeth Gilbert should eat this up." -- Kirkus Reviews "An epic narrative that requires...a large box of tissues." -- Publishers Weekly "Sweetly tragic." -- Library Journal "No matter what I even attempt to say, I can't possibly capture the absolute magic of this book. Like a spell, it haunts. Like love, it's going to endure." --Caroline Leavitt, New York Time s bestselling author of Pictures of You

Synopsis
From the author of the internationally bestselling The Art of Hearing Heartbeats series, comes this charming collection of folktales that offers a window into Burma s fascinating history and culture., From the author of the internationally bestselling The Art of Hearing Heartbeats comes this charming collection of folktales that offer a window into Burma's fascinating history and culture. Since 1995 Jan-Philipp Sendker has visited Myanmar (Burma) dozens of times, and while doing research for his novels The Art of Hearing Heartbeats and A Well-Tempered Heart , he encountered numerous folktales and fables. These moving stories speak to the rich mythology of the diverse peoples of Burma, the spirituality of humankind, and the profound social impact of Buddhist thought. Some are so strange he couldn't classify them or identify a familiar moral, while others reminded him of the fairy tales of his childhood, except that here monkeys, tigers, elephants, and crocodiles inhabited the fantastic lands instead of hedgehogs, donkeys, or geese. Their morals resemble those of the Brothers Grimm or Hans Christian Andersen, illustrating how all cultures draw on a universal wisdom to create their myths. The Long Path to Wisdom 's evocative stories run the gamut of human emotions, from the familiar to the shocking, and are sure to delight fans of The Art of Hearing Heartbeats as well as those newly discovering the magic of Sendker's incandescent writing., From the author of the internationally bestselling The Art of Hearing Heartbeats series, comes this charming collection of folktales that offers a window into Burma's fascinating history and culture. - o***l (310)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letztes JahrBestätigter KaufThe item was described to a Tee. Very good communication. Shipping was just a little slow. The box the set of books comes in was damaged (bent corners) due to packaging. Not a deal breaker because the grand kids will not store in that box; might be if it were to be given as a present. The three books in the box arrived in prefect shape. I WOULD purchase from greatbookprices1 again in the future. ThanksConstruction Site Board Books Set, Hardcover by Rinker, Sherri Duskey; Lichte... - i***y (710)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter Kauf2 volumes of Pogo comic strips, new and in perfect condition. Price was good, but shipping cost ($30 for two books) seems like a lot for how long it took to get delivered (23 days from Illinois to Spain). Also, seller communication was not great. First two times I wrote, their response did not address question. Third response explained at length about the private courier service they use and how it should take 1-10 business days to deliver. Maybe they should consider a different courier service.
- r***_ (107)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter Kauf*Same as the other review* Purchased two box sets from this seller with one being advertised as "like new" but was delivered as if it was actually new. Shipping time was a little slow, takes about 10 days to ship out and it takes a while to get through the system. But the packing was great and I'm still overall happy with my purchase.
