[...] Both sections on the problematic issues of the history of the Soviet partisan war and disciplinary violations in the guerrilla units are among the most compelling of the whole book and describe, for example, the extensive looting in the civilian population, the widespread alcoholism, and [...] sexual promiscuity [...]., Gogun recently published the most complete overview presentation of the Soviet partisan movement. He studies the partisan movement in Ukraine and illuminates almost all its aspects, including their relations with the local population.
