This game actually has a pretty sweet vibe to it. Too bad it broken AF! TERRIBLE framerate issues. Inopportune loading screens. Dull repetitive creatures. Clunky awkward item/weapon management. Etc etc. it's just not made well AT ALL. BUT it actually is built on a great foundation! Maybe they just bit off more then they could handle. You actually get to explore Silent Hill and discover and solve other people's hellish mysteries. The puzzles are fun and inginuitive. The atmosphere and settings are quite unique. The story's not bad. Blah blah blah. I've been avoiding this game for years because of everything I read about it, but since we're probably never going to get another Silent Hill, and EVERY FRICKIN horror game is FP nowadays I broke down and bought it. I recommend you do the same, just so you can feel my pain.Vollständige Rezension lesen

I bought this game as a collection of other silent hill games that I have. I haven't played it through. If you want just to collect no problem. If you are looking for a great silent hill I don't know since I just played it a little bit. The graphics at first it is okay not great. As you know all the silent hill games the graphics are not great either. This game on a ps3 system now you can maneuver better that the old style ps2 system.

I am a huge Silent Hill fan and had to finish the series. I was pretty skeptical about this game at first because none of the characters or monsters resembled any of the previous games, but I got over it. Cons: Combat is more difficult due to scarcity of bullets and melee weapons breaking with use, monsters are not as frightening as ANY of the other games, music is made by a different person than the rest of the series, pretty damn glitchy at some points, the vortex thing that follows you multiple times throughout the game threatening to kill you, and the perspective in some of the rooms in the game really sucks. Pros: Really awesome story line, really cool scenes and visuals, the game has a main story line and a bunch of side quests so you FINALLY get the opportunity to explore the town of silent hill, cool bosses, and most of the endings are really interesting. Would play again.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I bought Silent Hill Downpour because it has been out for a year and I want a game that was going to be scary and hopefully patched to work smoothly. The game delivers in old school horror scares. I would say it tops similar games such as Resident Evil 6 in the scare department. The environment I am okay with; rather than fog instead its rain and night-time that you never really get GREAT visibility. If you play the game in the dark setting as its meant to be played is extremely scary. It does give me personally a headache squinting around with the flashlight through the dark. I have to put the game down every hour or so because of this. On top of the usual scares, the combat is clunky and not fun, if the enemies get the jump on you they will get a few hits until you dash and then spam square. The combat though has never been a strength of the franchise but the puzzles were, and they were fun to figure out. The camera angles and quests were reminiscent of old entries of Silent Hill and Resident Evil. The bad part was the backtracking, which you will do a lot of if you finish all the side quests. The otherworld sequences as it chases you is just frustrating, I will sit with the laptop and have the route laid out but I still had trouble getting through those parts. Overall I would have loved this game if it weren't for the frame rate or LAG issues. Many times I will experience lag while playing and at times it will be constant for 5 seconds to as long as 30 seconds, and by now there will not probably be a patch to fix the issue. The lag ruins the environment, the atmosphere of the gaming experience and at times has turned me around, gotten me lost, and also gotten me killed. If you want to be scared and love the series it might be worth renting a couple of days but I would not recommend the game to buy.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Silent Hill: Downpour received mixed reviews, with aggregating review websites GameRankings and Metacritic assigning the PlayStation 3 version 66.78% and 64/100 and the Xbox 360 version 66.61% and 68/100. In general, most critics were split on the game's story and atmosphere yet criticized the combat and technical performance. Game Informer gave it a 7/10, stating "I don’t regret my time with Silent Hill: Downpour, but mediocrity hung over most of my playthrough." Destructoid gave it an 8/10, stating "When it's not forcing a sub-par combat system on players, and when it allows itself to be as imaginative as it can be, Silent Hill: Downpour is a stylish, slickly produced, beautifully foreboding game." Games Radar gave it a 7/10, stating "In spite of its flaws, Silent Hill: Downpour does manage to be smart and imaginative in bursts...The actual gameplay leaves a lot to be desired, but as recent Silent Hills go, this is one of the better ones." Gamespot gave the game a 7.5/10, saying "Downpour makes some questionable tweaks to the established formula, but those decisions distinguish it from the rest of the series." Official Xbox Magazine summed up its review with "the game’s many puzzles and open-world areas did leave us aimlessly wondering and wandering. But varied gameplay, solid combat, and an effective mix of psychological scares and freaky encounters make Downpour a worthwhile trip.", giving the game a 7.5/10. The most negative review came from IGN, which gave it 4.5/10. The review said that "The most frustrating thing about Silent Hill Downpour isn't the lousy combat, dull exploration, or even the technical gaffes. It's the fact that every now and then while playing through the game's story, you'll see signs of brilliance; sunlight hinted from behind the overcast sky." Several reviews singled out the soundtrack for praise, although one criticised the overall sound design, saying dead silence too often made combat commonplace instead of terrifying. The Joystiq review stated Licht did an "admirable job" with the score, yet lamented "the loss of longtime series composer Akira Yamaoka may be Downpour's biggest detriment." *extracted from wikipedia.org*Vollständige Rezension lesen
