This knife is an excellent tool for use in the bush to enhance survivability in the wilderness whether on extended camping trip or escape and evasion mode in combat. It is virtually indestructible, has great balance, takes and holds an edge very well, properly coated so does not rust. With the flat grind of the blade it retains great strength in the blade to combat breaking under any use. I purchased this knife for about $80.00 and believe it will provide comparable service of many knives priced at $400 or higher. I rate it one of the top values in knives on the market today. This is a real survival knife. This is what I'm taking with me when the SHTF. Large enough to use as a machete, make a shelter in a hurry, baton through a log or lop off a guy's arm. This unit has it all. The closest knife to this in size & function is 50% thicker but costs 7 to 12 times as much. Those knives are worth so much collectors won't use them. The original version was made of 1095 steel and had catastrophic failures due to it's brittle nature(might have been a bad process too). The 5160 steel is tough & flexible. It holds an edge but isn't difficult to sharpen. I couldn't find the serrated version then so I'm buying it now and will give the other as a gift to a close friend.

This knife is enormous! I would compare it to about a 1/2 size machete. It came with a good edge, an average sheath but the scales were really nice. There are a number of other knives that cost about the same as this but they come with plastic/grivory scales and to upgrade to the same as these it costs $40 or more.
