This is my first experience with Game of Thrones. i had heard that it was good and decided to get it. not sure what i was expecting, i like past centuries and kings. I found the first episode rather violent, also had sex and nudity, and a shocking conclusion. Maybe people should be made more aware that it is X rated? Didn't watch the second episode for a couple weeks, still violent , but there is a lot of story, and you wonder what is going to happen next, and it does grab your attention. Now i've watched the 3rd episode, and I can see there is a lot going on , and in spite of the brutal parts, it has many entertaining features.

First, let's get the technological out of the way. The DVD's work fine, including the 'I gotta 'go' NOW???' moments, or the next door neighbor nitwit with the timing that sometimes befalls the 'fairer sex'. That said ... The overall story is 'Who will, at last, rule 'the realm'? Consider being THE opponent involved in nine chess games simultaneously, and you have all the workings of Mssr. Martin's books to screen. Now, were you to create a separate backstory for the chess pieces on each of the nine boards, and you have all the characters, major and supporting. Now for those that might not have heard, one rumor of the game of chess, was to allow two opposing armies to survive, with the game played by the 'kings', and the loser losing his head. Translating that to "GoT", the game played is either you keep, or you lose your life, in the attempt to win at the level you are placed, and then climb to the next, and begin again, until it is YOU on THE throne. Stepping on heads is a given. Chivalry and Chivalric Law is the template. The 'feudal system' is the rule of all. The nasty business of eliminating your opponents in Medieval means of swords, daggers, and poisons is a thread throughout the storyline, similar to "Who's getting whacked, and how, this week?" on The Sopranos. If anyone wishes, they could inquire into the history of the Italian Borgias or Medicis, for beautiful subterfuge, scandal, and covert political warfare, as depicted in "GoT". Yes, there are both delcious heroes and villians, alike, of both sexes. Yes, there is nudity, and that is why I called it "Adult". Any high school kid reading Shakesspeare's line: "Get thee to a nunnery.", just might not catch the inference of that establishment. "GoT" leaves no stone unturned in human vices of the fantasy world of Martin. I admit that I will be purchasing the coming seasons of "GoT", for it is a storyline that deserves to be followed out to the last second of DVD playtime.Vollständige Rezension lesen

The story overall is very engaging but sadly it's polluted with overwhelming amounts of sex scenes and nudity. The nudity and sexuality is so pervasive that fast forwarding or skipping scenes was not even possible. We put the entire set into the trash can. Not worth polluting our minds. Very disappointing because the story line could have stood easily without adding all the sex scenes and nudity.
