I love my Nikon F4s pro SLR, but I haven't touched it much since I purchased the Canon EOS 1N. As much as I love film photography, I am spoiled by digital single-lens reflex cameras. The Canon EOS 1N works very similarly to a pro DSLR, much the same as my Canon EOS 1Ds DSLR. It's rugged yet elegant, easy to use, especially for a pro SLR. When I go out on a typical Voyage of Photography (and I've produced seven books of that title to date) I usually shoot both digital and film images. The Canon EOS 1N makes me so comfortable that for the first time in more than a decade, I have gone out with ONLY a film SLR. Coupled with a Canon EF II 50mm f/1.8 (or other prime lens) the EOS 1N produces fantastic images. The Canon EOS 1NRS and the Canon EOS 1V are newer pro film SLRs, but they cost a fortune. The EOS 1N doesn't, and as a pro with more than 35 years experience, I have no complaints with it at all.Vollständige Rezension lesen

I use a pair of EOS-1N's as my primary cameras. There is nothing that this film camera can't do. This is a fully featured professional SLR that is only one generation removed from Canon's EOS-1V. The 1N has five auto focus points than can either be selected manually or automatically by the camera. It has a top shutter speed of 1/8000th of a second, excellent weather proofing, and a frame counter in the viewfinder of the camera. The 1N is fairly easy to use if you already have experience with Canon SLR's, most features are controlled through a main dial and three buttons. Two things I don't like are the weight of the camera, this thing is very heavy even with out the optional power booster and the film door latch. You have to push a small button over the latch and slide the latch down at the same time; this is more difficult than it sounds. You get the hang of it eventually but it takes some getting used to. To sum it up, I loved the first one so much I picked up a second.Vollständige Rezension lesen
A solidly built camera, the EOS 1N is a complete workhorse that will not disappoint you serious photographers out there who have vested interest in film. Weather sealing, and a magnesium alloy frame are a major keys in the durability of this camera. It's quite a handful as well. This camera is nothing short of massive! Attach a battery grip to this this and you'll feel serious about your photographs. It's that simple. Definitely a good choice as it goes up to 1/8000ths, allows for about 4 fps (1N body alone), has a lit LCD, shutter rated up to 100,000 or more, and it has a film door lock. Overall, a definite workhorse camera. Besides all of those features another that really stands out for me, is that the camera will save your setting indefinitely. If you shoot on Manual this camera will never change from the manual setting even after you've turned it off. The one thing I actually find that I dislike about this camera, is the fact that you can't meter from the hip by looking at the LCD screen for exposure information. You HAVE to look through the viewfinder and you can't just look at the LCD quickly to see if your manual setting will expose properly. Making it a lot harder to "zone-focus" or from "the hip". It's a small thing however. Overall I'd highly recommend this as a excellent choice for your money as a main film camera that will last through the years!Vollständige Rezension lesen
One of the best film cameras of its era. Built like a tank. Feels good in the hand especially with the additional battery pack. Focuses well for an older 5 zone focus system. Totally automatic or as manual as you want it to be. Additional battery grip with rechargeable batteries is a big plus. Yeah it’s not a silent shutter but I like that. It sounds like a film camera always should. These are great film cameras when found in good condition. Probably would be a $2000 plus camera in today’s money, brand new. It works great and is a piece of history from an era gone by. Still love film and this camera. The seller claimed it was like new and I agree 100%. Good job by them.

The Canon EOS-1n film camera was a very nice surprise for me. I already own a Canon EOS 5D digital full frame camera so the features of the 1n were pretty easy to pick up and I was up an running in no time. After I managed to get a battery purchased and installed the first roll went very smoothly. The camera is extremely easy to load with film. Open the door, insert the film cassette, pull the film strip to the red mark, shut the door and then press the shutter button. Just like that I was ready to go. Choosing the shooting mode (program, shutter priority, aperture priority, etc.) is pretty intuitive and I was quickly working in aperture priority. Focus is very quick, which was one of the reasons that I actually wanted the camera in the first place, and accurate. The only momentary hiccup was when I tried to set the focus point. Though it turned out to be pretty easy I was momentarily stumped. The button to press so you can sort through which focus points you want, though marked, wasn't immediately obvious. However, a quick review of an online instruction manual and I was quickly on my way. So far I am quite happy with this purchase. The camera works flawlessly and has met all my expectations. Though not normally a Canon aficionado I can honestly say this particular model is a terrific camera. I am not really sure what more to say other than the photos taken so far have been very well exposed and accurately focused. It is quick and quiet and, so far anyway, very reliable. I guess that is really what is important so I can definitely say that it delivers the goods.Vollständige Rezension lesen
