Solid game, but could use visual and sound improvements
Although this game is terribly addicting if you're anywhere close to being interested in Marvel or card games, it falls short in that the cards could be larger to allow the player to appreciate their worth and art. The music is pretty boring as well. If you can look past the fact that you're better off listening to something else while you're playing, and you're not going to see the great animation you may expect from Marvel, you'll still enjoy yourself plenty. I haven't even played online yet, and I've still enjoyed hours of figuring out the game playing the campaign. I don't know what I was thinking...seriously.
Edit: 1-21-11 Picked Marvel TCG back up 2 months ago and been playing it hard. I just needed to get acclimated to the generic rules of the game, which I previously had thought to be too much work. The game fills some the endless hours of my life with card collecting and deck building and watching a comic book style of entertaining with plot from the hero point of view story and villian point of view story. It helps that I have affiliations and ties to most of the super heroes and villians already from massive cartoon watchings from over the years. I seriously have no idea of what to do. I just "punted" on 1st and Goal...yeah, its like that kind of metaphor. I really have no idea what I'm doing. :) And I'll further it by saying I really did not want to have an idea of what to do the more I stared into its abyss. :) I've played Yugioh TCG before...its okay, I guess. I've played SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters 1 & 2...enjoyed it for months (I'd be lying if I didn't actually say years even). :) I like Marvel characters. There's stats involved. I put two and two together, and I figured winner, right? lol. Yep. I apparently lost the ability to do basic mathematical addition (probabily given all those fun calculus classes that purged all my primary childhood building blocks). Eh, whatever. ;) I did not like these load times (preferably I don't like any load times, but wha'cha gonna do?). Albeit, I only allowed for 3 sets of these loadings before I decided to shelf this game. I did not like that the tutorial's text dialogue was extremely long (imo) and was getting longer by the second. That dialogue was making me jumpy (while I nervously would be thinking when is it going to stop giving me all this "helpful" advice). :) And I was really not wanting to give it even the option of using the "learning curve factor" of keep on keeping on. I know I can be pathetic, but there really was no motivation in it for me here. I'm not even sure I should give a review on this game as I am not experienced in the Marvel TCG world. But, to me the user-friendliness (as witnessed by me, to me) seemed to be not in "my" favor. :) So, if you already know how to play this game and like (perhaps even dare I say love) it before you actually buy it...I'd say maybe. If you're like me..."Just Say No"...or just don't say anything...just don't buy it. Or if you're bored, you have bushels of money, you want to build an empire of video game box real estate that you can make into life sized condominiums or at least forts...then, go for it. Build, my liege...build on. If you build it, they will come. They will come to take you away, ha-ha-hee-hee. Just kidding. ;) Hope you enjoyed the review in some manner or form or what-not, because that was the best part about this game (for me, to me, by me). Previous rating: 2.0/5.0 -J

Good and bad...
The good: -Tons of characters. -Easy to play an online opponent. The bad: -Tiny, tiny cards with no way to simply blow the pictures up to a decent size and enjoy your collection. Comics being such a visual experience, I would expect you to be able to look through the cool art you collect. Maybe even save the pictures off and use them as your PSP background; that would have been cool, but instead you could only see the pictures at a pretty small size. -The gameplay is poorly explained, without enough reward or fun involved to work through and really learn the nuances. If the cards were cool to collect that might be enough reward to stick to it, but as it is earning the cards just becomes tedious. -Your online cards and your single player cards don't mix, so gaining cards in an online ... Marvel lives up to its name
This game is perfect for us trading card game fans. Great graphics, story line and character tie ins. What makes it even better is that is has Marvels greatest heroes. It's more complex than pokemon, and better than Yugioh. If you like trading card games, or marvel, or both, get this game.
