You'll probably remember Devil May Cry 3 for the PlayStation 2 as being an unfairly difficult game, yet one that rewarded your patience with a slew of high-quality action. If playing it gave you tears of frustration, you'll be happy to learn that although this sequel is a challenge, it's by no means an extreme one. In fact, you're given an excellent number of gameplay choices that help you tailor the challenge to your preferences. You can initially choose one of two difficulties (and if you want to cry like a little girl, you can unlock several more), and you can even choose whether you want the game to perform some combos for you automatically. No, you aren't apt to find Devil May Cry 4 to be excessively tough on your first play-through, though it is no walk in the park either. However, it is generally excessive--not that that's a bad thing. Stylish action, terrific boss fights, and beautiful, melodramatic cutscenes will inspire you to push forward, and they serve as an appropriate reward for a well-played sequence of demon slaying. You wanna piece of me? It isn't surprising that a game featuring the charmingly insane Dante would be so over the top, though the series' famed antihero is not the real star this time around. Don't worry; you'll still get to play as Dante, and he brings with him a good selection of weapons and fighting styles, just as Devil May Cry fans would expect. But you'll spend the majority of the game as newcomer Nero, who has a selection of impressive and elegant moves of his own. Nero is an excellent character, capable of delivering a few wisecracks, a brooding glance, and a heartfelt plea of love to his beloved Kyrie in a few moments' time. He's clearly cut from the same cloth as Dante, though it's a bit disappointing that the game doesn't explore this connection in more detail. Nevertheless, you'll want to follow Nero's exploits as he struggles to learn the truth about his own religious organization, The Order of the Sword, and Dante's apparent murder of its leader. The story doesn't offer up a whole lot of surprises, but it embraces a certain attitude of self-indulgence. Cutscenes are overwrought, visually stunning affairs, and are among the best you are likely to have seen in any game in recent years. The theatrical dialogue, impossibly athletic animations, and swooping camera work make for quite the spectacle, but somehow, it's a spectacle that manages to stay on just the right side of cheesy. Devil May Cry 4 takes itself seriously, but not too seriously, so for every shocking, bloody cutaway, there's an equally funny quip that helps keep the narrative in check. There are a couple of cringeworthy exceptions, such as one scene where Dante decides he's a tango dancer (don't quit your day job!), but overall, you're apt to find the scenes to be gorgeous, thought-provoking, and emotionally stirring. Nero's claim to fame is his demonic arm, better known as the devil bringer. With it, you can grab onto distant enemies and pull them in, pick them up, and slam them around for some excellent combos, plus deliver a few other surprises. These mechanics are easy to pull off, and they represent a general shift from the defensive gameplay of Devil May Cry 3 to a more aggressive approach. As you play, you can pull off some incredibly satisfying moves, both in the air and on the ground--the most violent of which are accompanied by slick, bloody animations and appropriately gory-sounding thwacks and slashes. I am truly a long time Devil May Cry fan. I got the first Devil May Cry when it first came out without even thinking twice about it. Devil May Cry 4 is very disappointing to a fan like me. It's pretty much a combination of all the past games with little new stuff added. So there isn't really any improvement in DMC 4. The story line is ok if that, it is very repetitive. You go so far out there and then you have to come all the way back the same way. There is very little diversity among the monsters. Dante's weapons suck except for the gauntlets which are pretty much the same as DMC 1 without the fireballs. The combat is fun but I find myself mostly using the swordmaster class because it's the only way to do aerial combos. Any other class and the combat gets very repetitive. The game also doesn't explain much about Nero. It is an enjoyable game but not something you wanna buy unless you are a big fan of the series; it is more of a rental. The best Devil May Cry was the first one. The story was great, the weapons awesome, many diverse monsters to fight, boss fights were challenging and fun. DMC 2 didn't have a very good story line but the action was the best in the series. It's the only Devil May Cry to have wall running which was really cool and made combat awesome. DMC 3 had an ok story line and great gameplay. Weapons were awesome in it. The Devil May Cry series has been great but considering past games Devil May Cry 4 leaves a lot to be desired, it is really a rental game.Vollständige Rezension lesen
This was my 1st entry into the series and I have been hooked ever since. I have fond memories of this game and will continue to play it :D

Well, im a follower of this saga, first i played DVM 3 in playstation 2 and was awesome, i never has been played a similar game with a combination of speed movements and different types of weapons, later i try DVM 2 and isnt good than the 3 but maintein the same type of game. When i hear the about the four part obviously i thinked "i must play that game", i wait for the special edition because i was interested in the anime too, the game is great and have excellents graphics and animations and you can choose between various different difficulties. In form of a critic i can say is a little short and the levels and puzzles are more easy than the previous games.
This is a great game.Many have tried, and many have failed to make so good and so epic action game series like Devil May Cry is.And this one particulary is good one in the series.It uses many elements from the previous games and adds a new ones.Beautiful graphics,music,gameplay, just everything. Get this game you won't regeret it.
