What promised to be an interesting "western" turned out being mostly middle-of-the-road mediocrity. Richard Boone portrays a tough-as-nails commandant of a Western outpost for the U.S. Army in the 1880s. He's been assigned a new adjutant (played by George Hamilton) who he immediately dislikes--and sets out to show how much he does dislike him. The storyline of this film, then, could have been set in any time period in any location--and played out pretty much the same--older man in a position of power feeling challenged by a younger man sent in as a future replacement. This was definitely NOT Richard Boone's best film. George Hamilton was--well, George Hamilton. He could have been playing Dopey in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and still been the same ho-hum actor. The only really redeeming quality of the film was the brilliant color and spectacular expanses of the American Southwest that often filled the screen. Beyond that it was a waste of time in my opinion.Vollständige Rezension lesen
