Firstly please don't purchase this thinking its a cheap alternative to say a fluke or a fully fledged commissioning tester, its not. However, it does cover all of the major basic tests quite well including some (such as ping) that aren't normally covered by the cheaper testers Another thing to note is that it comes with 8 BNC/RJ45/Rj11 (all sockets on all end modules), as well as a tone tracer Just adding these onto a "better" meter would cost far more in most cases than this entire meter and extras costs. So a possible use would be to get say a fluke for the commissioning and this for rapid cable idenfication and basic testing which would still be cheaper than fully loading out a fluke or other major brand with the "extras" of tone tracer and end modules It also means you can do multiple tests at once instead of just one if you loaded a fluke meter, have a spare tester "just in case" and it would save wear and tear on the more expensive fluke for more mundane tasks that this does just as well as any other meter like identifying cables and checking basic cores are wired correctly It uses 18650 batteries which have pros and cons, pros being battery life, cons being that they aren't (or don't appear to be) plugged in, so spares cant be carried and they "may" be soldered onto the main boards and not easily replaceable when they eventually fail The screen is pretty awesome, touchscreen would have been cooler, but heck, its barely over £100, but the full colour display is easy to read and more than bright enough in total darkness The main complaint if anything would be multiple cat 5 sockets, as my memory isn't what it used to be I suspect I wont be using it enough to remember which port I need to use for which feature without referring to the manual for a reminder, but again, its barely over £100 so hardly the end of the world So overall for what I paid I like this tester. Good display and battery life, good range of features and connections for a "cheap" tester, an economical purchase with added functionality compared to purchasing 4-8 end modules and audio cable tracer for a more expensive model So for a hobbyist I would say this is a good choice for a more indepth ability to test multiple cables at once without selling a kidney, for a professional a reasonable alternative to adding multiple end modules and audio tracer to a more expensive model The bag its supplied in is "ok" but could have done with being larger to allow a few patch cables and adapters to have been squeezed in, plus getting the zip to close can be difficult too, but again..... barely over £100 purchase price lol So overall I am very pleased with the item and would recommend it not only to hobbyists and occasional network cablers but in certain instances as a second tester for professionals too I personally install CCTV equipment and this will test both the BNC and cat 5 cabling more than adequately but with some adapters could also be used for testing satellite and TV installations too, in fact with some imagination and the right adapters it could be used for checking pretty much any type of cable As a last note, and again common for the price point, I wouldn't expect it to survive any significant "drop" as it has no rubber bumpers to protect it and the plastic feels decidedly thin, but did I mention it costs barely over £100? lol But the ability to add a lanyard wouldn't have cost anything and would have made it less likely to be dropped to begin withVollständige Rezension lesen
