It's not often you see the personal side of the hero's. When you call the fire department, the ambulance or the police, there is always a personal side. When any of them get to a scene, the have to take an active roll. But they are all people. People with their own issues and problems, yet that is all pushed aside to help you, the public. This movie shows that side and more.

This is the Anniversary Edition of a terrific film - Backdraft. It was filmed in Chicago!! Two brothers serve as firemen and as siblings, bicker quite a bit. Kurt Russel plays the older brother of William Baldwin who is the younger brother in this terrific movie. This movie portrays the devastation of fires - great detail. The firemen are experiencing a large volume of Arson and they need to figure out what is happening. The brothers become closer during this episode. There is one funny scene where the younger brother (William Baldwin) rescues a female manequin. Boy do they razz him! This Anniversary Edition includes two discs with many bonus features. A great item to add to your collection!
t's weird to think that when I went to see "Home Alone" in the theaters, "Backdraft" was advertised right before the movie came on. The whole thing is a little grimmer than we usually expect from Ron Howard. It focuses on mutually hostile brothers Stephen (Kurt Russell) and Brian McCaffrey (William Baldwin), both firefighters in Chicago having to put aside their differences to fight an arson outbreak. True, it doesn't really sound like much of a plot, but Howard knows how to keep everything going. Stephen is the sort of guy with a bad attitude whom you can't help but respect. Brian mainly shows that there was once a time when Alec Baldwin's brothers could act. As for the climax, that is really something that is likely to shock you royally. But don't get me wrong. This is a good movie. Maybe not any kind of masterpiece, but worth seeing nevertheless. Above all, it's not a disaster movie (the less said about "The Towering Inferno" the better). Also starring Robert DeNiro, Donald Sutherland, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Scott Glenn, Rebecca DeMornay and J.T. Walsh.Vollständige Rezension lesen
A thoroughly entertaining film. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and your emotions going from fear to crying. Generally a good film for all the family. I highly recommend this film.

A Great Movie with an outstanding cast is one reason why this movie is a must have. I went to see this movie back in 1990. Firefighting runs deep in my family and as a fire explorer at a young age I was so excited when I got to see this. My mom and Dad who was a Capt. for Dayton, Ohio went. The story in the film is excellent and the effects are outstanding. I have nothing negative to say about the film, but there was a little over drama in the film, and firefighters must have proper gear on before entering including a SCBA so they do not die of smoke inhalation. A great film by an excellent director.
