Product Information

The sequel to Dungeon Keeper, from Bullfrog Productions Ltd., has the player once again building an army of the most vile, nasty, wicked and loathsome creatures imaginable with the ultimate goal of attacking and destroying King Reginald's legions of Harmonia heroes. Indeed, creation of a dark army of nefarious creatures is the uppermost objective in Dungeon Keeper 2 as you strive to capture and control the Portal Gems left behind by Reginald's mages in an attempt to block movement of your army and keep it imprisoned underground for eternity.<br><br>With help from the Horned Reaper, you'll need to mine gold to entice the evil denizens to work for you, provide sleeping arrangements for them and create a hatchery for breeding and feeding. The entire scope and shape of your underground realm depends on your abilities to layout a suitable nesting place for the other-worldly scum you must recruit in order to overcome good and supplant it with evil.<br><br>Shape your dungeons by digging tunnels, chambers, rooms and torture chambers, build a library to house evil magic spells or create a combat pit arena where you can jump in the ring and develop fighting skills from a first-person perspective or simply watch your minions hone devious fighting techniques. Provide drinking and gambling areas for your army and devise devilish traps and snares to foil the forces of good as they try to infiltrate your lair.<br><br>Dungeon Keeper 2 features actions such as casting spells, possessing creatures, sniping, sneaking or creeping around, torture and generally performing dozens of other abilities worthy of the lowest scum you can conjure up to help build your dungeons and wreak havoc on the world. The game features a short tutorial that allows dungeon keepers to learn about game aspects such as digging, fighting, creature development and room building. <br><br>Other game components include more than a dozen terrain and room types, ranging from workshops to cemeteries, more than a dozen creatures to conjure, keeper spells (12), creature spells (25) and a large variety of traps, tricks and doors. Dungeon Keeper 2 offers several modes of play, including the unique "My Pet Dungeon" mode in which you can build the dungeon of your dreams without invoking campaign rules and objectives. Multi-player options complement the campaign and skirmish modes with Internet and LAN support for up to four players.

  • It's good to be bad

I love this game. I purchased this as a replacement for a broken disk. The first thing I must mention is that the graphics are excellent; for the era from which this game was written. It is an old game, out of print, and the graphics are dated by today's standards, though they were considered quite good when it was released. Game play is third-person; you look down on your creatures and dungeon from "on high". You can also possess creatures under your control and play first person, though this is only practical to carry out specific missions. Probably what appeals to me more than anything else is that it is just fun to be the bad guy. Having played games like Diablo for some years prior it was just simply a blast playing the other side, where you have to protect your evil dungeon from ...

  • A good natured sim for those who live in the underworld

Game Play 5 of 5 stars Graphics 4 of 5 stars Sound 4 of 5 stars A.I. 3 of 5 stars Pros: Cons: Overall: This is a good title and will provide several hours of entertainment. Had to install an automatic update to allow the game to resume from pause mode after a saved game load. Please note: this title was reviewed using a Dell XPS Gen 4, P4 HT @ 3.20 GHz, 4 Gig RAM, Dual 160 SATA RAID(0) hard drives and a nVidia GeForce 6800 256mb PCIe video adapter. It is important to read and understand the minimum and recommended system requirements for any PC video game. Systems that are faster than the minimum may provide significantly better performance and improve your gaming experience. Some PC video games list specific video card requirements and will not function without. It is also ...

  • We love DK2

My husband and I have owned at least 5 or 6 copies of this game and fight over it and the poor things end up getting broke, scratched and so forth. I got 3 this time.. lol now my kids like it too!! Graphics are amazing for the date of the game, yes adult content but not that bad. you beat levels by building a dungeon (sort of like Age of Empire build a city)accomplish the task for that level, and then move on to next level. In one aspect it's another life/simulation game. So matter of taste if you like this. It's right up there on the shelf with Age of Empires for us!! Always there, always fun to play if nothing else to do, or bored somewhere with laptop. Shame EA bought the company out, and put breaks on them, DK3 was looking great!

  • Dungeon Keeper II -- annoying flaws

I only enjoyed this game because of my tastes for RTS and Dungeon Keeper I. However, the product itself was slightly flawed. When I inserted the CD-ROM to install the game, the software prompted me to change settings on my computer so that it was compatible with XP (so far so good). However, as I later found out during multiple campaign levels, I would get randomly booted off the game and an error report would appear on the screen titled "MC SHIELD XC.exe." I wasn't sure how to fix this, and I did email the creators, but was never contacted back. This created a very annoying environment to play in, since I had to save the game every 15 minutes, so I wouldn't lose my work and have to revert back to my previously saved game. The product came with little instructions other than an online ...

  • Strech your Evil Hand, Building Dugeons! Killing all humans, Great Oldie!!

Great game for the casual real time strategy love. Your job is to build increasingly more complex dungeons; which in turn begets ever darker creatures. Your goal is to kill mortals that reside in your realm. The learn curve is easy; each new creature, weapon, or room is described as the become available. New rooms are by far the most exciting part of the game. As you progress new types of rooms become available; most of the time these rooms allow newer and stronger creatures to live in you dungeon. You can be as evil as you to your own team; slapping them silly, or picking them up and dropping from high and seeing the damage you have done. Dungeon Keeper 2 is a great game for those who appreciate older games that are slower than today's which are just to fast for me. I'm 32 and i hate to ...
