Back in the days of film cameras, Nikon originated many features, such as providing a removable pentaprism so the camera could also function as a waist level instrument. Their shift lenses (moving the axis of the lens) simulated the rise and fall of a view camera and were probably the first of their type for 35mm cameras. This multicoated lens is one of the latest variants of these lenses and is a solid metal lens built for many years of service. The controls are positive and have the feel of a Rolls Royce. I have only made some test images but they are clear and bright, the controls function with no backlash, click stops are all positive. The lens has no electronic connections to the camera and the aperture (f-stop) is set manually. However, on this lens a pre-set device is provided. Take a light reading with a hand held meter or the camera's meter and move the front pre-setting ring to the indicated setting. The second ring is free rotating and controls the aperture. Rotate this till the lens is stopped down to the shooting aperture and click the shutter. A word about shift lenses- It is not possible to meter through a shifted lens with most camera meters. On a digital camera, pick an F stop while viewing a scene outdoors and leave this- set the camera to program or T for time- shutter speed and shoot. The lens rotates so can be shifted sideways. Shift left + right and stitch together for an excellent panorama. A superb and useful lens.Vollständige Rezension lesen

This is an older Nikon Perspective Control lens. But as many other older professional Nikon lenses this lens is a bargain for the its price/performance. It is built like a tank just like all older Nikon professional lenses. The quality of craftsmanship is outstanding. Modern plastic "made in china" products cannot come close. The images are sharp throughout the aperture range even wide open. Speaking of wide open, the aperture of f/3.5 is plenty wide for a shift lens like this. This is a fully manual lens, which is not an issue for what this lens is designed for. Professional architecture and real estate photographers use manual setting on camera for best results most of the time anyway. With the development of the digital some may think that the need for this lens disappeared. But there is no substitute for seeing how the image will look like right there on the spot. You may discover in post-processing that the image did not come out the way you imagined it would. Chances are there will be no way to retake the image (if you were on travel) or at the very least it would require addition time investment. It would not happen if you could actually look at the image and adjust it (or your position) right there and then.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I have seen examples of keystoning images corrected in Photoshop. Sometimes they look good, but it involves a lot of interpolation which degrades the sharpness of the image. You also generally lose some of the image near the edges of the frame --- just what and how much is hard to judge before hand. If you photograph tall objects and don't want the keystoning effect, you really need a shift-lens. For years I used the 35mm Nikkor PC and it worked very well. Because it worked so well, I saved up until I could afford the more expensive 28mm. Images have been very sharp with lots of contrast on my D700. Yes, it may take longer to make the image. But not nearly as long as it takes to try to correct it in Photoshop later and the resulting image prints much better than a Photoshoped alternative.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Have wanted a 28mm PC lens for a number of years, to go with the 35mm PC I have used since college. Lens arrived well packed, and virtually mint condition. Immediately stuck it on my D850, and started shooting. Very, very sharp. Moreso than any of my G series zooms. But, the greatest feature is that the full coverage allows much greater shift than my 35mm. This lens will be in my bag from now on, without exception.

This lens allows you to take pictures where the trees do not lean in, same for buildings if you are into street or cityscapes photography. It's built like a tank and all metal construction. Will outlast me that's for sure. Very nice feel to the adjustment and the focus. Nikon at it's best really!
