Written by longtime Transformers scribe Simon Furman (a name that is legendary throughout all forms of Transformers media) and illustrated by Guido Guidi, 'You Can Draw Transformers' is both an excellent introduction into drawing comics for a complete novice or a seasoned artist. Starting with the very fundamentals of drawing and providing a great deal of information on exactly what you will need, and how you should go about developing your own Transformers comic. The information is provided clearly and concisely, and goes into more precise instruction wherever necessary. Furman's writing abilities prove just as proficient in a guide such as this, as they do in his comic series. With hints from himself and the illustrator dotted throughout the book it's hard to forget that you are being instructed by two seasoned veterans of the Transformers universe. Having said that, this book could prove useful for anyone looking at developing their drawing skills. Obviously this would not be the title to pick up if you wanted to widen your artistic scope to include impressionism or abstracts, but if you wanted a book that provides instruction on a wide variety of techniques that are interchangeable across different fields, then you could do worse than this. The book has excellent guides on perspective, inking and colour, and a truly standout chapter on drawing anatomy. The book does not favour any one conitnuity of Transformers, although there is a slightly larger portion of Generation 1 artwork and designs this is likely due to G1's fame and popularity being higher than that of other lines, and thus more recognisable. The construction of the book itself is another great feature. Bound in an A4 ring binder the pages are printed on a high quality glossy paper and includes trace overlays that allow you to seperate the specific area being discussed from a larger piece of artowrk. The cover is a light but durable card and inside the rear cover the reader is treated to a stencil page of caption boxes. In summary 'You Can Draw Transformers' takes the reader through all the stages of drawing their own Transformers comic, from start to finished product and covers everything that a beginner could need. I strongly recommend this to anyone interested in Transformers or comic drawing, and anyone who is interested in both won't have needed to read this review, as they'll already own the book.Vollständige Rezension lesen
