I bought this to replace my HP Pavillion DV6000. That PC lasted me four years but always had issues. This Apple laptop has a TB HD 8 GB memory and runs great so far. The graphics is stunning. It has not given me any errors so far. I am not used to Mac but it has been fairly easy to figure out if you are tech savvy. There doesn't seem to be nearly as many glitches and viruses. The laptop can get a little hot but nowhere near as hot as my former laptop. Battery is not as great as advertised. It lasts about 2-4 Hrs with high usages and no power consumption limits. All in all I feel its great buy and a reliable product. I love the design including the backlit keyboard and awesome graphics.
I am not a computer geek. I figured it would be important to start right off with that. It’s probably good for people to hear from someone who isn’t particularly knowledgeable about technical things because it’s rarely useful for people like us to read reviews that are full of computer jargon. That’s why it’s so meaningful for me to say I simply love my first Mac and gave it an excellent rating. I purchased a 2.53 gHz 15.4” MacBook Pro on eBay for less than $1450, and after a month of playing on it (and getting some work done too), I don’t think I paid too much. Firstly, the transition from PC’s to a Mac was seamless because the MacBook Pro is designed to be intuitive for the end-user, and it’s highly functional! With a backlit LED keyboard, a well organized and uncluttered system for finding programs and retrieving files, and because it wakes up from hibernation instantly, the overall sensation is that there’s less of a barrier between me and modern technology. And if someone out there is concerned about learning a new operating system, it’s no biggie because the Apple website has free tutorials as well, and I availed myself of a few. Although this high-powered machine doesn’t have the 10-hour battery life of others (I rarely need so many hours), the trade-off has been that I can watch videos and download files at the maximum speed my wifi network allows. It does conserve power, but not at the expense of slowing down the super-fast processor, which allows me to get my work done more quickly. As for freezing, that never happens, and I love how it automatically finds available wifi networks and connects to my preferred ones without having to prompt me to put information in that I would have to retype over and over again on a PC (like my old one). I don't want to be long-winded, so I'll summarize my MacBook Pro in three words: Reliable, Fast, Fun. I’ve experienced many other exotic and variegated computer types and brands, like expensive Tablets PC’s and powerful desktops built for gaming, but after switching to a Mac, I’ll never go back.Vollständige Rezension lesen
After having a 3 year-old Dell die on me (to be fair it was put through multiple trips to and from school in my bag, sometimes while it was still on) and a Toshiba Satellite fail after a year, I was tired of paying bargain prices and receiving a frustrating experience to go with it. My girlfriend had talked about buying a Mac and I always balked at them as being too expensive. Well, most of the main problems with my old laptops were hardware/compatability/driver issues. Knowing that Apple makes the hardware and develops the software for their computers made me think they would be able to integrate the two aspect better PC's I have used. I still have nightmarew about all the drivers I had to hunt down when I downgraded my Toshiba from Windows Vista to XP. I had actually purchased a 13" Macbook Pro with a glossy screen from Amazon a few days before Apple did their big upgrade in April 2010. It was a beautiful looking machine and was easy to use after I became accustomed to the differences from a PC, ie; What is the "Finder"? However, the 13" screen was a little small for me. I do some photography work, and I watch movies on it as well so I decided the 15" Macbook Pro would be the way to go. Once they did their upgrade for all their machines I decided to buy directly from Apple. I debated long and hard on the glossy vs. matte option. Going with the high-res screen (1680 X 1050 as opposed to standard 1440 X 900) was a no-brainer. After doing some online research I also chose the matte option (as opposed to the default glossy screen). I had never actually seen a matte screen as the local Best-Buy didn't have one in stock. I was a little nervous on my decision, but I called Apple tech support and easily arranged for a return on my not-yet-arrived 15" Macbook Pro should I want one with a glossy screen instead. The person I spoke with even arranged for return shipping labels paid for by Apple! I didn't upgrade the harddrive or RAM because I can do those myself, or have them done later, for a lot cheaper than Apple's pricing. The new 15" w/ the matte screen came and I opened up some high-res You-tube videos and compared it side-by-side to the glossy. This was the middle of the day and the lone window in our living room was creating all sorts of reflections on the glossy screen while the matte was unphased. Sure the blacks on the glossy were a deeper and the colors might have "popped" a little more, but knowing I would be using my laptop in a room lit by daylight or with a bright light, the henious reflections on the glossy screen definitely made it a no-go for me. This was a window that was in front of the computer and wasn't even directly shining on the screen. I was really happy I decided to go matte. That being said, I have loaded up Photoshop CS5 and it runs great. Way faster than my old laptop. I appreciate a lot of the little touches that Apple puts into their products that are becoming more and more noticable every day I use it. (Such as their search feature is always available with 1 click from the desktop) I plan to buy an Applecare plan towards the end of my one-year warranty period to make sure this lasts me at least 3 years. Hopefully I might be able to keep this for 4 or 5 years. Overall, if you have the $$ I highly recommend this product.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Having bought an iBook G4 in 2002 for my daughter for use in college, I soon followed with my own iBook G4. The ease, power, and speed of the G4 machine made me an advocate for the product. Last month, my daughter mentioned that she wanted to upgrade to the MacPro. She researched and found that this model best suited her script writing needs. I surprised her with a MacPro and she was blown away by the refinements, speed, and quality of the product. Two weeks later, I bought myself one. There are computers and then there's Apple. The back-lit keyboard is easy on the eyes. The applications are easy to access and manipulate. I have no reservations of having bought two MacBook Pro's in a month.
I'm on my second one of these dogs and I'm heading back to exchange it for another one. I'm really surprised to be experiencing the problems I've had with both machines. My wife has been bugging me for a mac for years now and we are both very let down so far. We're stuck in the mountains in Colorado for now and we fight over my older $400 Dell refurb laptop purchased through the Dell Outlet. It's far more reliabnle and stable than the POS mac. Hopefully the third attempt will live up to the expectations we had for an Apple computer. The first computer froze incessantly while using Safari and applecare said they would replace it if we shipped it back but we were still within the exchange time at Best Buy. The second computer has been more stable using Safari however it has been a nightmare as far as the video card(s) are concerned and other programs including the photo software included with my camera as well as iPhoto have been quitting unexpectedly and my photos were corrupted upon import into iPhoto. Now the computer is actually locking up along with a very weird video display of grayish screen with lots of vertical lines. Have to reboot boot several times before it goes away. One very let down newbie to apple computers here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually like the Mac operating system so far and that's why I'm going to try one more exchange at Best Buy beforing giving up on Apple.Vollständige Rezension lesen
