I needed an omnidirectional mic that I could plug into the mini studio on my computer for remote music sharing. The price is excellent, and it's a Shure, so I took a chance, though it's really billed as an interview mic. The sound quality is really great, and it's much more audible than my old mic. It picks up vocals and instruments, and I can even add my husband with instrument & vocals. It picks up everything. I'm very happy with this mic.

These mics have a tendency to create feedback. A lot of sound engineers don't like them because of their sensitivity. We put this one to use on a drum set and really expected trouble...sitting in the middle of the toms and cymbals. It worked so well, we didn't need to mic either of the snares and it picked up the guitar amp from six feet away so no mic there either. And feedback...NONE! Really works well. first one of this type I have used...it won't be the last! Thanks.

Meh. I had high hopes for this microphone as it is supposed to be designed especially for interviews. Good voice pickup and capture - which is, unfortunately, hampered by unduly high handling noise and a bit of echo-reverb-microphony (handling noise in the audio) when recording. It was OK up close and held in the hand, which I suppose is how it should be used, but easily apparent on a shock mount desk stand. You may like it. I sold it. Just my take - your mileage may vary. Shure makes excellent professional microphones and the VP64 is no exception. The price was excellent so I bought it.
