I Spit on Your Grave
Wow, I have to admit that I was not expecting that! Some really powerfull images / ideas that are not for everyone. Some parts actually made me feel ill, some parts had me cheering. I was suprised at my reactions to the brutal revenge extracted in the end. Another argument for open and legal carry of firearms. (A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed!) Would she have actually carried the pistol in the dresser drawer, she might have made it through unharmed. Altho the movie would have been only 45 min. long. Ladies, get a concealed carry permit, and use it. It can save your life, handguns saves thousands of lives every year, but the media wont touch those stories with a ten foot pole. It ... Police (God bless them) can not be everywhere, and I wouldn't want them everywhere, even if they could be. Stand up and take responsibility for yourself, for your safety, for your security, and most of all, for your FREEDOM

an improper handling of a touchy subject
This film does have a strong following, I'm fully aware. It also has a lot of people who hate it. I belong in that second camp of people, although not for the same reasons that most people point out. I Spit On Your Grave is a rape-revenge film, which (in and of itself) I have no problem with. One of my favorite movies of all time, Ms. 45, falls in that same genre. My problem with ISOYG is that it really doesn't handle the topic at all tastfully or properly or respectfully or appropriately. First of all, the rape scene is long. Like, over an hour long. That's very unnecessary. It's as if the filmmakers are taking pleasure in the rape of the main character, and asking the audience to do the same. After being through such an unfathomably horrific ordeal as the hour-long rape scene, we expect to (at the very least) be treated to one insanely brutal revenge. But we're not. The revenge the main character enacts has the following problems: (1) it's too short (2) it involves her further victimization (3) her success in getting revenge seems almost accidental rather than a product of her planning and (4) she at almost no point feels truly in control during the revenge process. I know that the filmmakers defend this film by saying that it's supposed to be unpleasant, and that it's actual a feminist piece since it displays how awful of a crime rape is and then gets revenge on the perpetrators of that crime. Well, I think that's a very admirable goal, but I don't think this film accomplishes it in a way that's at all satisfactory. If you're looking to illustrate the horrors of rape and then enact a revenge on its perpetrators, there are many other movies to watch first that are done far far far more artfully, tastfully, and respectfully. Please do not watch this movie.

Excellent! Must have movie for horror fans
This movie is everything you could want from a horror movie, pretty graphic and disturbing but yet it has a wonderful message, especially for all the perverts out there: don't mess with the wrong woman! It's also such an empowering film for women. We constantly see chicks being degraded in horror movies, but FINALLY one of them takes one for the team. Revenge is sweet, and especially in this movie. There's scenes you will never forget. Love it, love it, love it, GET IT!This movie is everything you could want from a horror movie, pretty graphic and disturbing but yet it has a wonderful message, especially for all the perverts out there: don't mess with the wrong woman! It's also such an empowering film for women. We constantly see chicks being degraded in horror movies, but FINALLY one of them takes one for the team. Revenge is sweet, and especially in this movie. I've changed my plans for retreating by myself!
This is one of those classics that people talk about and you wonder if it's really a CLASSIC. This is. I was bored in the beginning wondering what all the hype was about and than BAM that all changed and I had to turn it off to get my head straight again. It is violent in every aspect of the word and is not one for woman who are squeamish or bothered by VERY excessive violence. It is brutal and distrubing and will leave a lasting impression on you. Great movie though and the revenge scenes really don't get much better than these. They are graphic and will leave you cheering in your seat. Great cult classic movie, not for the squeamish.This is one of those classics that people talk about and you wonder if it's really a CLASSIC. This is. Day of the Woman
In this movie originally titled Day of the Woman Camille Keaton niece of Buster Keaton gives quite the performance. The movie is believable and made well. Camille married the director of this shortly after it's first release. Thank god for the VHS market of the 1980's. which saved this movie. The subject matter is intense and not for the faint of heart. You will treat the ladies in your life 100 times better after seeing this MOVIE GUARANTEED!In this movie originally titled Day of the Woman Camille Keaton niece of Buster Keaton gives quite the performance. The movie is believable and made well. Camille married the director of this shortly after it's first release. Thank god for the VHS market of the 1980's. which saved this movie.
