Product Information

Detective Lindsay Boxer and the Women's Murder Club make a courageous return for their fourth and most chilling case ever-one that could easily be their last. In a late-night showdown after a near-fatal car chase, San Francisco police lieutenant Lindsay Boxer has to make an instantaneous decision: in self-defense, she fires her weapon-and sets off a chain of events that leaves a police force disgraced, an entire city divided, and a family destroyed. Now everything she's worked her entire life for hinges on the decision of twelve jurors. To escape scrutiny during breaks from her trial, Lindsay retreats to the picturesque town of Half Moon Bay. But soon after her arrival, a string of grisly murders punches through the peaceful community. There are no witnesses and there is no discernible pattern. But a key detail recalls a case Lindsay worked on as a rookie years before-an unsolved murder that has haunted her ever since. As summer comes into full swing, Lindsay and her friends in the Women's Murder Club battle for her life on two fronts: before a judge and jury as her trial comes to a climax, and facing unknown adversaries who will do anything to keep her from the truth about the killings-including killing again. James Patterson fine-tunes the tension as never before in this breathtaking addition to the best-selling detective series to debut in a decade.

Not the type of pumice that absorbs water.

Pumice is a porous stone as a result of volcanic lava flow. It does not absorb water but allows it to drain. Your premise of how it works is mistaken. Too bad you went this route and followed up with undeserved negative feedback. Perhaps you could have dealt with this displeasure differently.

  • 4 for "4th"

James Patterson adds another quick-paced and satisfying entry to his “Women’s Murder Club” series with “4th of July”. After being placed in the center of a high profile lawsuit against herself and the SFPD, Detective Lindsay Boxer retreats to her sister’s cottage in the peaceful community of Half Moon Bay. Once there, she becomes embroiled in an ongoing investigation involving a heinous serial killer. As it becomes apparent that these current killings may have ties to her first (and still unsolved) case from 10 years ago, Boxer enlists the aid of her friends and confidantes, medical examiner Claire Washburn and reporter Cindy Thomas to help her uncover the shocking truths that lie beneath the placid surface of Half Moon Bay. Patterson (with co-writer Maxine Paetro) combines his ...

  • The Best of the Women's Murder Club Series!

This was a riveting read for me. It was always easy to put down and find your place again, but I didn't want to! I just had to keep reading until the end. This has everything: A little romance, a shocking crime, a sub-plot (are they connected?) a shocking twisted ending, a few red herrings to keep you guessing until the end. Just a great combination of elements that make reading this genre fun and interesting. I am anxiously waiting for the next in the series The 5th Horseman. I think this is my favorite in the the series so far, which is unusual because often the first two are the best then they go downhill, but this series just picks up speed and character development with our dear Lindsey Boxer.

  • Excellent Murder Mystery

This was the first James Patterson book that I have ever read. I absolutely loved this book. It was like watching a great movie. It was a quick fast paced book that never gave me time to get bored with it. Once I started reading it I didn't want to put it down. I really liked the fact that all of the loose ends and questions were solved in the end. Now I must read the other 3 in this series. ;) Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer is a great leading character. There are also very good supporting characters, such as the other cops, her circle of friends, her love interest Joe and the new characters that she meets in the town of Half Moon Bay. Two adorable characters are Lindsay's border collie Martha and Penelope the potbellied pig. This story truly does have everything; a great murder mystery with a ...

  • 4th of July by James Patterson, Maxine Paetro (2005)

Again, James Patterson gives us another heart-stopping, can't put the book down kind of detective story that we come to expect from him. In a late-night showdown after a near-fatal car chase, San Francisco police-lieutenant Lindsay Boxer has to make an instantaneous decision: In self-defense, she fires her weapon--and sets off a chain of events that leaves a police force disgraced, an entire city divided, and a family destroyed. Now everthing she's worked her entire life for hinges on the decision of 12 jurors. You will be on the edge of your seat waiting to read what happens next to Lindsay, her friends and family. • Book number four of the Women's Murder Club

After reading the the first three books I had to have the fourth. It is a very good book. This book will catch you at the very first page. Not easy to put down. James Patterson is an excellant author. I would recomend not only this book, but the other four books of the Women's Murder Club also.
