1) This is not, in the strictest sense, "melodic death" metal. This is thrash metal, but it is not dated and '80's sounding. It is an evolution of thrash metal and is very fresh sounding. If you prefer a beefier death metal sound, start with "This is Hell". 2) The production is of the super clean, digital bubblegum pop variety. If you prefer a grittier analog sound, stay away. The production on this disc is very clean and is what ruins all of Decapitated's music in my opinion. 3) There are no guitar solos on this album. What some people mistake for guitar solos is the harmony part being played over the top of the riffs. 4) Songs are written in the three to five minute range and follow a predictable pattern. The first three tracks are awesome and then the album starts to bleed together. There aren't enough fresh ideas to warrant nine songs at this length. I like this music very much, but this is the major reason I give the CD a 3/5. If they had (a) more ideas or (b) a four song EP, I would have scored it higher. 5) This band draws a lot of attention because of Glenn Ljungstrom (ex-In Flames)and Jesper Stromblad (In Flames). This does not sound anything like In Flames, neither their old stuff nor their new stuff. I will say this is potentially what In Flames might have sounded like had they not decided to suck instead.Vollständige Rezension lesen
