The item is as described in the description, but a major problem has arisen: even if I put in new batteries, they display one time out of 2 that it is discharged. And the SIM card cover came off very quickly. The salesman reacted defensively, talking about it as if I was the problem. So, OK, it's second-hand, but if it's only going to be usable once every 2 years, it's not worth it. You should check your items more carefully before selling them.

you admitted damaging the battery cover and we did not get defensive we just pointed out that because you damaged the battery cover it would not work correctly hence why your getting the low battery indication we thoroughly test all our items before listing if a problem arises were more then happy to help resolve the issue but you admitted damaging the item so unfortunately we are not at fault or liable for damages caused by you the buyer as per ebay guidelines

    Thrilled to bits with the camera as mine broke and they are no longer in production

    I have loved my Pentax Optio 50L for years. It takes great photos and when mine broke and could not be repaired and they have ceased production, I was heartbroken. To find this one on e-bay was fantastic. The first 3 photos I enclose are not great photography examples but I have not been out and about recently. However, the last 2 pics are old ones and a good example of what this camera can do.

    Simple and easy to use

    I bought it for my little Granddaughter as she loves playing with my cameras. I don't mind her using mine but end up having to clean them all after. I have some older cameras on a shelf. Some digital, some film which she likes to use. This one is simple and easy to use for her and takes decent pictures. I own mostly Pentax cameras anyway so I can add it to my collection. Arrived quickly and well packaged. She loves it and it is better than the kiddy ones you can get. Thanks.

    Pentax Optio 5.2 Megapixel Digital Camera

    I purchased it for my wife as we going to South Africa for a long holiday, i have my own camera. It was cheap and inexpensive so if it got lost/broken or stolen it would not matter. Picture quality is good, easy to use, 4 x zoom, came complete with carry case.

    Excellent Results (eventually)!

    I bought an Optio 50 on ebay for a price I couldn't resist. "It's a Pentax - it must be good!" I thought. My first photos were taken on a night out with friends and the results were disappointing. Half of the photos were out of focus. I decided to read the instruction book and made a startling discovery: You should wait for the focus marks to go green before pressing the shutter all the way! Needless to say the next batch were in focus. My main interest is landscape photography and I have to say this camera has produced my best ever results in this field! The colours and sharpness are great. The only downside is that at the shortest zoom length there is some slightly noticeable "barrel distortion", but you get that with most compacts in this price range.     Good little compact heavy on batteries.

    I bought my Pentax Optio 50 a couple of years ago for about £100. Its very compact and light and takes good photos. You can choose the quality depending on what you want the photos for. I only use a few of the features, and the menu is a bit fiddly to negotiate. You can date imprint your photos, which is good for holiday snaps, but if you crop them prior to printing you can easily cut off the date. It takes and SD card, which you will needed as the internal memory is small. You can't do anything without the lens extending, and I think this is probably why it is heavy on batteries. If I am at home I use NiMH, but even these don't last for more than a few shots, so when I am on holiday I use Duracell, but this is costly and they still don't last that long. If it wasn't for the battery ...
