This model kit is very nice but there is one thing you must remember when you build it. It is not the Saturn V of the manned Apollo moon missions. Rather, it is the Saturn SA-500F, a dummy Saturn V used by NASA to test facilities at Launch Complex 39 at the Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Florida throughout 1966. The paint scheme shown in the Revell instructions are for the SA-500F as well. If you want to paint this model to reflect the actual Apollo moon missions, I suggest looking on line for how the real Saturn V Apollo rockets differ from the painting directions in the Revell instruction pages. Also, the decal placements in the Revell instructions are not all accurate for the Saturn V Apollo Moon rocket. See photos of real Saturn V Apollo 11 moon rocket on launch pad.

its an old kit, dated on molding 1968, but tooling has held up well. it is not without a little flash and some ill fitting parts all from the day when models were toys for kids. it is not a straight up version of any one Saturn rocket but more of a mix between different missions. There is a wonderful build series on youtube of making a very nice model with some old school tactics. it is a good price for a large piece to display just needs some love in assembly.

I chose this model because its details are the exact replica of the real saturn v. I must admit, it will take some time to complete. I will be utilizing this model in effort to make a lamp out of it.
