Destined to fight the world's evil, Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) is a warrior in a cowboy hat and a trench coat, heavily armed with a rapid-fire multi-arrow crossbow, among other gadgetry. A legion of monks in Rome send Van Helsing to Transylvania to hunt the immortal Count Dracula (Richard Roxburgh), who terrorizes the local people with the help of his three vampire brides. Especially threatened is the vixen Anna Valerious (Kate Beckinsale), whose family also strives to kill the Count. Van Helsing and Anna Valerious work together, searching for the secret door to Dracula's lair. But it is only after massive battles involving impossible stunts, races on horse-pulled carriages, and the desecration of enchanting medieval castles (all done with dizzying computer graphics) that they succeed. Not only does the eye candy keep on coming, the tongue-in-cheek writing and deep Transylvanian accents perfect the film with a dose of dark humor.

Monster Movie fans will love this!!!
Van Helsing Full of great special effects and costumes, but has little substance! If you're looking for the next great American movie, turn away immediately. However, if you're a monster movie fan and you're looking for an action/adventure film full of cool monsters and great special effects, Van Helsing delivers. Although Van Helsing is a little short on story, the action sequences and the monsters more than make up for that. I love monster movies, and Van Helsing fits as many monsters as it can into the 2 hour time limit. Van Helsing can be summed up by the following statement - Wall to Wall action scenes and monster battles. Final Verdict: 3/5 Rent or Buy?: Nothing spectacular, and unless you're a huge monster movie fan, you can get away with a rental. IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW ... The movie was great. I like that fact that they used a younger version of Van Helsing. Most of the the books and older movies use an old man that hunts for Dracula, which i think is not a great idea due to the fact that he's old. C'mon now!!!! Dracuala fighting an old man..... Dracula is a powerful being and to be defeated by an old fart is really uneasy and very unrealistic to me. I know that Dracula is not real but its just not one of the best ideas of a novelist. The visual effects of the movie were great and i like that they also threw in some humor in the movie... The only thing i did not like was that most of the movie was DARK. I would have liked to see alot of the landscaping they used in the movie but due to the movie lacking the light it needed i did not get to appreciate ... The movie was great. Yikes This Was Bad!
Holy bad movie Batman! This was so bad - how bad was it? I don't know but it was REALLY bad. It's interesting because Kate Beckinsale and Hugh Jackman are pretty good actors. The script was average, no surprises, the usual vampire-vampire hunter story. The special effect are supposedly very good. But for me the spec effects are what made this movie really bad. They relied on them so much that the script suffered. If any movie can be said to have gone overboard with special effect then this is it. To me it has the same look and feel of The Brothers Grimm, good actors in good stories with blah scripts. Great Looking Werewolf!!!
This is a great action non thinking movie, which looks awesome in HD. This is the type of movie where you leave everyday reality behind and just enjoy the action. In my opinion, if you like werewolves this has one of the best looking werewolves ever made for a movie!! It is just a fun movie all around. Just to sit back and enjoy!! I really liked the music and the way the movie was filmed. This is what I would call a non thinking movie, just entertaining.
