I have read and love most of Julia Quinn's book but sadly I have to say this one was not at all what I expected. The story is suppose to be a sequel of sorts to the Lost Duke of Wyndham where this version is from the man who could possibly be the true duke. I found that this book was so similar to the other book that it was really boring as I had already read the events taken place. Maybe if you haven't read the Lost Duke book, it would possibly be better. So to sum it up, it's not as good as I expected. However, the new book at the end looks great.
I was excited about this book and thought that taking the same event from a different perspective would be interesting. Saddly, the romance (or lack thereof) of the two main characters in this book do not really make up for having to go through all the same conversation over again. Since the dislike between Thomas Cavendish and Jack Audley is mutual, all the interactions feel exactly the same as the first time they were read (in the Lost Duke of Wyndham). There are 3 or 4 scattered new scenes between the main characters of this title (Thomas Cavendish and Amelia Willoughby), but the only real joy I found in the title was the last 3 chapters (and Epilouge) of the book which were completely new. Almost made the other 320 pages worth it, so not a total loss. If you read "The Lost Duke of Wyndham" it is close to word for word the same bookVollständige Rezension lesen
Delightful romping in the manner of Georgette Heyer. A more serious theme than many of her books. Strong female roles and personable main characters. Julia Quinn does not disappoint.
good book
