Exceptionally well made, German technology at its best. I avoid the Ni-Cad versions and prefer the AA batteries. Easily sourced in most countries and at home. Supermarkets, corner shops, Post Offices, newsagents all have them and you’re independent of the mains. The gun is very easy to use and the distance dictates the lens aperture. An easy to use rotatable dial atop the gun gives the readout. Light from the gun hits the subject and bounces back to a sensor under the reflector. This cuts the power and avoids overexposure. I’ve used the 45CT1 on manual exposure, older style cameras such as the Leicaflex trio. It’s unwise to connect it to modern electronics cameras as there have been reported cases of these electronic circuits being “fried.” I’m unable to recommend using it on a digital camera as at the moment of firing the screen would probably turn black and smoke would issue from the vent holes where the audible warnings are emitted. It would be the last time the very annoying little ‘beeps’ were heard. The camera might even emit a cry similar to the one women emit when discovering a dead body in Midsomer Murders. Certainly, no man would yell like that!Vollständige Rezension lesen

Having used a hot-shoe flash for so long I'd forgotten just how good 45s are. For good read reliable, accurate, super colour and POWERFUL! The price of genuine Metz battery packs adversely affects the guns' value but if you know how to google you can find a sensibly priced solution and get the best of all worlds! 45CL-1 is fine with digital - ie it won't cook your camera; other models need to have their trigger voltage checked to be sure.

these flash guns may be old, but are great value for money, i use them with a trigger velcroed to the side and not directly connected to camera because i did hear it could overload the circuitry in your camera, but still very good value
I bought this product for photographing bats. I had tried with a Canon 360 and it wasn't powerful enough. I started to speak to a few people about high powered flashes and everyone said go for a 45 CL-1 so I did and I am chuffed to bits with it. It is a bit weighty but certainly powerful enough for the job and very easy to use.
