The CD is rather less fragmented than the bewildering kaleidoscope of the DVD but a lot of the remixes are gratuitous and no real improvement of the originals. The extensive sampling is at times discordant and does not make a pleasant listening experience. I do not understand why such prominence is given to the insipid - memorably forgettable, one might say - Ian Fish, UK Heir from the dreadful and self-indulgent Buddha of Suburbia album which is used as a recurring theme. There are a few real gems, though. The Jean Genie / Love Me Do/ Jean Genie medley from the 1973 Hammersmith Odeon gig, featuring guest star Jeff Beck, who passed away in January 2023, is included in its entirety, raising the hope that in 2023, the 50th anniversary year, there will at long last be an official release of the gig in its entirety, on CD or DVD, hopefully both. A genuine attempt at an insight into Bowie's peculiar psyche. I experienced genuine pleasure listening to CD 1 but got bogged down in CD 2, maybe it tries too hard. A 'moonage daydream' in places, a post-space age nightmare in others. Vollständige Rezension lesen
