Well for starters im a huge lion king fan and i already seen all 3 movies a bunch of times but im gonna talk about Lion King 2. The Lion King 2 Simbas Pride is a very good sequel to one of the most engrossing films of all time but as i say that i am also dissapointed in the film that it didnt give me that jaw dropping experience that the first Lion King Film did Story: Lion King 2 Simbas Pride is a story about Simbas daughter Kiara who encounters an outside lion named Kovu, a young member of the banished outland pride chosen to walk in the path of Scars paw prints. As Kiara grows up her and Kovu fall in love and they become the only hope for healing the rift between their prides, It takes on the story of Romeo & Juliet. Its a very serviceable story but not as excellent and groundbreaking as The original Lion Kings Hamlet kinda story. Audio: Just like the first film and Lion King 1 1/2 this film features a special Disney Dolby 5.1 mix which enhances the experience of watching the film. It sounds great but it still cant touch the original experience of the first film. Most of the original cast return in the sequel such as Matthew Broderick (Simba), Moira Kelly (Nala), Robert Guillaume (Rafiki), Nathan Lane (Timon), Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa), and of course James Earl Jones (Mufasa). New characters are also introduced such as Jennifer Lien (Vitani), Jason Marsden (Kovu), Andy Dick (Nuka), and Suzanne Pleshette (Zira) One thing i noticed was that Rowan Atkinson (Zazu) was replaced by Edward Hibbert but it didn`t make a big difference cause Zazu didn`t have many lines or roles in this film. I really liked the voice acting and thought they did a overall good job, one thing i wanna say is that Zira is a very good villian and doesn`t fall too behind Scar and Andy Dick is funny with his role. The music isn`t as impacting or rememberable as the first (but i didn`t expect it too be as good considering this is a direct to video sequel) it still very good. Video: One thing that surprised me is how well done the animation in the film is cause usually DTV Sequel movies have terrible animation but this one doesn`t fall to far behind the original. For a direct to video movie your not gonna get any better then this. colors are rich and beautiful and have more detail then its vhs counterpart. Once again though its not as jaw dropping as the original but still satisfying. Extras: I was very dissapointed in the special features it has a couple games, music videos, a virtuel safari, pop up video fact track, and a couple trailers. There is one short animation called "One by One," which was originally intended for the next Fantasia which was unfortunatly cancelled. There are five educational (and entertaining) educational shorts with Timon and Pumbaa, a short featurette on Lions, and a "making of" featurette about the original direct-to-video release. I was dissapointed in the making of section cause i didn`t see the passion like the original directors had in the first film which is why i liked the first films features. The educational shorts with Timon and Pumbaa and the short featurette on lions were kinda entertaining and good for kids but only funny a first time, after they just get tedious and you start to role your eyes overall i enjoyed the film and its a worthy effort from disney it will go nicely next to the original film but as i said not as good as the first film but still worthy of its name 8/10Vollständige Rezension lesen
Purchased Lion King 2 after reading the book for my 4 year old granddaughter. Until we found the book, we hadn't realized there was a follow-up to the Lion King story. She loved the first movie and knows some of the songs by heart. She enjoyed the 2nd movie--I think mostly due to the return of the same, lovable characters. I felt the story of the 2nd movie wasn't quite as good, as fun, or as deeply moving as the first, but it wasn't a waste of money. It made her happy and that is what I bought it for. Glad to have it in our children's collection. I wouldn't recommend it as I would the first movie or some of the Disney greats, but for anyone who really enjoyed the first Lion King movie, I think this one is worth a watch.
My 15 month old son loves Lion King so I decided to buy this one. To my surprise, he loves Lion King II as well! I never knew or heard about Lion King II, but was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. My favorite (and my son's favorite) part of this movie is the songs. (The story is fairly strong too) Even though nothing compares to the Lion King I soundtrack, this movie is probably my second favorite. It has catchy songs to sing and dance to that your children will like. A solid 4 Stars!
Disc was scratched and cracked, unplayable. There was a note slipped in the back of the clear case, stating simply, "Disc is beginning to crack, dispose." Another disc I bought with the bundle was much the same. Very disappointed. I understand second hand isn't mint condition, but it is despicable to profit from garbage.

The Lion King 2 is not too bad of a movie,I bought it because I have never seen it before and I wanted to. the fact that most of the original cast plays in it was a plus. But in reality I felt this movie was done without half as much passion as the first one, typical of a lot of sequals, I felt they could have done better, a big down to me was the lack of a powerful soundtrack, Hans Zimmer did awsome on the first one, the soundtrack was not too bad either. However, the sound effects are not done as well in the second one, the first movie used its 5.1 surround to the fullest. I have to say I saw some of the Lion King one and a half and just from what I saw, I liked that more than Lion King 2. But all in all, I would give it a try. Keep in mind that I am not too critical of movies, I like to keep an open mind, however some movies do just completly suck. good luckVollständige Rezension lesen
