Very entertaining.
The previous owner took very good care of this dvd set,There are no scratches on them and they all play without issues. The series takes us tnrough the events that shaped King Shaka Zulu into becoming a legendary King of the Zulus whose name would spread like veld fires throughout generations. This takes me way back when i was coming up and the series was on tv in my country(South Africa),Getting on ebay to find that people from almost all over the world have seen this series/or know about King Shaka makes me so proud to be a Zulu,It also reaffirms King Shaka' s legacy,As both he(King Shaka and the doctor said)"The spirit of Shaka speaks!!,"("So be it!,Take this spear and cast it in the ends of the world throughout time!"The previous owner took very good care of this dvd set,There are no scratches on them and they all play without issues. Excellent watch!!
What an amazing historical movie. I am very glad to say I was not disappointed by the movie. Buying the disc set turned out great. The set was in near excellent shape. The disc played with out fault. Very presentable boxed set of 4 discovery happy and satisfied with this purchase.

Real Look at an African King
I remember watching Shaka Zulu when I was growing up and being hypnotized by what I saw on television. I was amazed to see this strong, intelligent man leading a large group of people. Now I teach Advanced Placement World History and the textbook we use does not do justice to Shaka. I tried looking for the series last school year with no luck. This is one of those priceless teaching tools, that a textbook just can't compete with. My students are totally into the Shaka's story, we have great student discussions about the British government, European Colonization in Africa and racial ideologies. Over 10 years later and 5 classes a day, I'm still hypnotized by the movie and the awesome depiction of this African King.I remember watching Shaka Zulu when I was growing up and being hypnotized by what I saw on television. History with all the Action and Intrigue
This DVD set was a gift for my husband, and I did not expect to like it. It is so well written with a well chosen cast of characters, I enjoyed it almost more than he did. This movie is actually based on true African history, but has so much to say about human nature in general. It has so many profound things to say on a variety of subjects on a variety of levels. It was also a little helpful to do just a little research on the internet to understand a little of it, especially to be prepared for the ending. It' doesn't appear to be a happy ending but when you do the research and understand what happened "after" it makes sense and is easier to deal with. This is history and this is what happened. Immensely fascinating, really. It's a wonderful change from the entertainment we've grown ... This DVD set was a gift for my husband, and I did not expect to like it. This drama about a primitive civilization, shows how mankind has the same issues all over the world. This man had the ability to do great things. He was brilliant but because he was raised & influenced by a very bitter mother who sought revenge above all else, in my opinion, all he could see from being her son, was avenging his mother & being the greatest at all cost even the life of his own son. Traggic to have misused such a God Given gift of brain power. If you watch it, you may come away with a lot more than I can put into words.
