The high-quality display is exactly 3.0 inches diagonally and includes up to 230,000 pixels for great image depth and brilliance. Designed to be fast and slick, the PowerShot G9 camera utilizes an integrated DIGIC III processor, which is capable of providing high performance for easy image or video capturing and processing. The camera features a compact and modern design. It is coated in a matte black color with silver accents. The front face of this Canon digital device features the 6X optical lens with zoom, LED flash panel, and a circular LED indicator. On the top of this Canon device, you'll find a range of settings that can be customized to your needs. Each button on the rear of the camera beside the LCD viewfinder can be used to change specific settings and presets. The Canon PowerShot offers a number of image sizes ranging from 4,000 by 3,000 pixels all the way to 640 by 480 pixels. Additionally, these digital cameras are capable of shooting movie clips at a rate of 15 frames per second. These compact cameras also include TTL autofocus capabilities, AiAF face detection, manual focus ability, image stabilization, and focus lock. They offer a wide array of modes that utilize preset settings to bring out the best image quality in a given environment. For example, the device offers auto, shutter priority, stitch assist, movie, and special scene mode presets. You'll also be able to adjust aperture, ISO, and exposure settings to shoot pictures that will meet your specifications. The digital camera itself includes several accessories such as a 32MB MMC memory card, removable li-ion battery, software, and a wrist strap.     Camera Works Well as Point-and-Shoot or Much More

    This camera has a lot of hidden features: he instruction book in English for Canon PowerShot G9 is 275 pages long! If that is not daunting in itself, the big-handed person will have to struggle a little with the small buttons. On the positive side, there is the point-and-shoot mode: just hold the camera steady while looking at the subject in the bright 3" diagonal screen and press the shutter button. About 90% of the time, the resulting picture is most satisfactory. Perusing the instruction book is worth a bit of time. Spending time fiddling with the options wheel on the top of the camera will tell you a lot as well. Settings to overcome the brown/yellow cast of incandescent light, or to use a wide-open shutter for night photos are just two functions worth learning if the picture ...

    A well made compact camera

    Everything a budding photographer need without the bulk of an SLR Camra. It shoots in Jpg and also the professional format, RAW. Easy to carry around and so easy to use. It has many features that will amaze you. The quality of the lens is amazing, good sharp images. A type of camera that is easy to carry around, so you will never miss a opportunity to catch that one in a lifetime photo.

    Great value, but try to get the "flaw" fixed!

    This is an absolutely amazing camera. I did extensive research before purchasing and most people seemed to agree that there was no real reason to seek out the further iterations of the G-series. The G10 it seemed was arguably a backstep in some areas and the G11 and G12 do not show significant enough image quality improvements to warrant the extra money they'll cost. Also, the G9 has a longer zoom than all of them - if you're interested in nature photos, which this is great for. The one problem with this is that it suffers on the wide end. Honestly though I could not have been happier with this camera... except for it's one fatal flaw. And I mean fatal. Google "G9 no power" you'll get quite a few hits. Apparently there are two screws that work themselves ...

    Favorite Canon is their G9

    Little G9 camera does a terrific job of quality photos for both close ups and landscapes. Its size and weight make it a daily companion in in my purse and enables me to no miss any of those KODAK moments. Even has decent video capabilities. I take 1000's of photos a year. Its pricing makes replacement more feasible than investing in repairs/a newer model.

    Canon G9 - a lot of camera in a small package

    I bought the Canon G9 to improve upon the low light performance of my Canon A-710IS. Although the A-710IS has more than enough resolution (7MP) and optical zoom (6X), and its Macro focus and Image Stabilization are more than adequate for product photos to be viewed on computer monitors, I often shoot at night under artificial light, without flash, of course. I can now lock ISO at 400 and get the exposure I need at f2.8 to f4. The G9's IS provides sharp images at handheld shutter speeds of 1/15 to 1/30 second with acceptable noise and great Auto White Balance. It is a serious camera, providing Canon-dedicated hot shoe, optical viewfinder AND 3" LCD viewing, RAW file capture, and lots of exposure mode control. The optical zoom is 6X with f2.8-4.8 lens. I find the 5MP setting to be more ...
