Psychology from a Biblical perspective
Moving from a psychology approach to God into a biblical approach and applying the lessons God wants to teach, instead of questioning why, makes the idea of shattered dreams an oxymoron. When I realized that shattered dreams were my dreams or plans and not God's, then and only then could I accept the fact that God's "dreams" do not shatter! His thoughts for me are for good and to give me a future and a hope (Jer 29:11) and not to harm me but to conform me to His image. Dr. Crabb has touched a real nerve with me in returning me from the humanist approach to life (I am the be all and end all of my existence) into the John 15:5 approach..."without God I can do nothing". In taking what I perceived to be shattered dreams and molding them into His plan, I have a future and a hope. Not based ... I think Dr. Crabb has been able to bridge a gulf which I have always felt existed between psychology and Christianity. I highly recommend this book and recent books by him, especially if you are struggling to understand how psychology and biblical principles can meld together into a cohesive world view.

Shattered Dreams
Most amazing book, IF you are serious about knowing God, loving God, wanting God, and NOT USING God for your own personal gain or just to give him a list of your own wants. READ this book, If you are Serious, and will allow the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you, this will change your life, and your outlook. God is NOT in the business of Serving us, God loves us, even this in the most Hurtful, devastating, crushing circumstances, sometimes He allows these things that we will get to the point of REALLY wanting GOD, and to realize that HE wants a relationship with us personally. My utmost recommendation, if this book does not make you cry out of sheer Praise to God, Praise for the shattered dream, and Praise for Christ and what HE really did for you, then you are NOT ready to read this book. ... Most amazing book, IF you are serious about knowing God, loving God, wanting God, and NOT USING God for your own personal gain or just to give him a list of your own wants. Disturbingly honest
Not everyone will be comfortable with the level of honesty with which Larry Crabb tackles the subject of suffering. He won't let you get away with Christian cliches and pat answers. Profound insights are packaged in easy to read, practical language. One of the most thought-provoking books I've ever read, and definitely one of the most beneficial. I will read this one and recommend it over and over.Not everyone will be comfortable with the level of honesty with which Larry Crabb tackles the subject of suffering. He won't let you get away with Christian cliches and pat answers. Profound insights are packaged in easy to read, practical language. One of the most thought-provoking books I've ever read, and definitely one of the most beneficial. I will read this one and recommend it over and over.

The best book I ever read
The best book I ever read. This is a deep book but when you are ready it deals with you honestly. If you want to stop living in a fantasyland and live in reality despite how painful it may be this is the book to read. I was shocked to discover that my dreams were not God's dreams.That happiness isn't a normal feeling. I am learning to worship God IN the pain not despite it. I stopped reading all those self-help books on the market, so when a friend recommended this book I was skeptical. I am so glad I started reading again! My hope has been restored and I feel like I can go on again....The best book I ever read. This is a deep book but when you are ready it deals with you honestly. If you want to stop living in a fantasyland and live in reality despite how painful it may be this is the book to read. An inspiring and challenging topic and great insight. Larry has helped me to think through my own perspectives on how God shows His constant faithfulness in my own life.
