While this may be obvious to some, you have to have a Wii U Gamepad (nearly as expensive as the console) in order to configure, setup and use the Wii U or get to the point of being able to play Wii games. Following that, you can use Wii remote controllers when playing Wii games but to get to the standard Wii environment you have to use the Wii U Gamepad. So be aware if you are trying to replace a Wii Console with Wii U Console, you will also need a Wii U gamepad and the power supply is also different.

I bought the Wii U cause I'm a fan of most Nintendo franchises such as Zelda, Smash, Mario, Pokemon and Metroid. Even though right now the selection of games is small, several main games from Nintendo have been announced and from here the console can only get better. I gave it 4 stars because as most people said, the menues take a little longer than usual to load, which I really don't mind at all, but I have to take into account when reviewing. Nintendo has adressed this and the system issues will be fixed in 2 separate patches coming this fall and summer. This console brings the unique experience of assymetric gameplay, better apreciated in Metroid Blast, one of the mini games in Nintendo Land (Included with the Deluxe version of the console). Judging by this game, and others like the Pikmin Adventure or Zelda Quest I can say that the possiblities for multiplayer experiences in this console are great, allowing one player to use the TV as his own screen and the player with the Wii U Gamepad and entirely different screen. This lets players have their own view of the game world. Not sharing the same screen while in the same room can't be done with any other console. We can all agree that for now there are no big games that utilize this, but of course Nintendo made the console with this in mind, and they will take full adventage of it.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Overall, the Wii U seems like a system with great potential, but at the moment, it can be kinda boring. There is practically no game selection, and there are probably less than 30 games available for the console. No good Nintendo ones besides Nintendo Land, and the rest are all just games you probably already have for your Xbox, or are just too childish for your taste. The controller is much cooler than you would think. When first looking at the Wii U, I thought the controller was a bit ridiculous, and bulky, but once you hold it in your hands, it seems to be a perfect fit. It has many features, including a microphone, camera, plenty of buttons, and motion sensors, which should be plenty of fun in game to come. The console itself works well. It loads quickly, has a beautiful display, simple menus, and doesn't make as much noise as the Wii did. Like I said, I think the Wii U has great potential, however, I woudn't buy it unless you already have some Wii games to play on it (the main reason I bought it in the first place was because my Wii was broken). If you want a Wii U, I suggest waiting until some more games are released, and the price may even drop down a little.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Nintendo has made an awesome new console, runs very quiet and produces some great gfx. The new tablet controller has a very nice screen and is surprisingly light and comfortable to hold. The off tv play alone is worth this type of controller. I got the new Wind Waker HD remake with my Wii U and let me tell you, it looks fantastic. I haven't seen a remake that has had an overhaul such as this in terms of graphics and added features. Nintendo's social network, Miiverse is another gem that the media does not give enough credit. All this console needs is some more software and it will be getting that within the next 6 months. Super Mario 3D World is a must have, DK Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, X, Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8 and the new Zelda title will keep me busy for a long time.
First thing I need to say is, the gamepad is not as ridiculously huge as it looks in the model picture. It's a little awkward at first but it doesn't take long to get the hang of it. The game selection is not the vast because of the lack of investment from other game companies. I just wish those companies would put time into this product and then it would be amazing. But of the few games that are out there for it, the Nintendo Wii U has amazing graphics and Nintendo always has fun and interesting games to play. The game pad makes games play a bit differently but it works and makes things more challenging. You can even play on the game pad while having the TV set to something else (this applies to most but not all games), as well as being able to use the gamepad as a TV remote, but sadly it only has about a 4 or 5 hour battery charge. If you would rather not use the gamepad because you dislike how awkward it may feel to you, you can get a Wii U Pro Controller and it will be just like a Xbox controller but it works like the Wii U Gamepad. With buying the Wii U, a Pro controller and a popular game that is probably like $60, it will cost only $10 more than the Xbox One system ALONE.Vollständige Rezension lesen
