Because I wanted a dedicated eReader (rather than a tablet or phone with a backlit screen) optimised for reading which wasn't tied to any particular website, and to be able to download ebooks from my local library I found that this limited scope to only a few eReaders, most of them made by Sony. The T1 is fairly new and incorporates touch screen, and one of the best screen types for optimum reading comfort. Funnily enough prices for Sony eReaders seem to be comparative with, or even a bit less than, the equivalent Kindle which was a bit of surprise but maybe it's because most people (and the expert reviews) all seem to recommend the Kindle range so demand is much greater for the Kindle. However because Kindle is tied to Amazon and apparently you can't read ePUB formats, Sony's reputation for quality and previous experience of their products swayed my decision, and I haven't been disappointed. This Sony eReader is excellent. Well made, easy to operate and the screen is as easy to read as I'd hoped. It's also about the right size for comfortable reading. I bought a refurbished machine which had 630 books pre-loaded on it - the range of books was very good indeed but it's a bit daunting sorting through all those books and picking one you want to read. Plan A was a facility which lets you put books into collections so I thought I'd put the books into Author collections - but it can only handle about 100 collections which wasn't enough. Plan B is to buy a mini SD card and put some of the books on there instead but I wish there was more scope for putting ebooks into collections by author. I am really glad I bought an eReader with pre-loaded books - even though I think I paid a little bit more than if I'd just bought the eReader on its own I've already read and enjoyed several books which I wouldn't normally have bought. When the eReader first arrived I didn't fully read the instructions - but if I had I'd have noted that battery life is severely effected by turning off the eReader rather than putting it into Sleep mode - likewise using WiFi drains the battery big time so suggest you only use WiFi when you need to then turn it off. Once I read the instructions and followed them battery life was so much better! In fact I can't really remember the last time I charged the eReader - but it's probably a couple of weeks ago. The only slight frustration is that there doesn't appear to be a way of seeing a summary of the book's story/content - like you'd see on a dustjacket, or the back of a paperbook. Not too much of a problem since I can always go on the internet to find a summary of a particular book, but if it is possible to download the book's cover with the book (in most cases) it's a shame you can't also download a precis (unless you can and I just haven't read the instructions again!). Overall I am thoroughly pleased with my eReader and since buying it have done far more reading than I have done for quite a few years. I thought it would be difficult to make the transition from paper to eReader but it's not, the only thing I miss is the precis referred to earlier. Another benefit is not having lots of already read books cluttering up the house until I find time to take them to a charity shop (although I do feel a bit guilty that the charity shop won't benefit any more!).Vollständige Rezension lesen
I chose the Sony PRS-T1 as an ungrade from my Sony PRS-505, I stayed with Sony after excellent service from the 505. The features I like about the T1 specifically is the WiFi which with the browser makes looking at books and downloading easy where ever you are, our holiday hotel has WiFi. The browser also allows you to access a number of sites unlike another Reader that directs you to only one. I found the reader, light to hold, easy to use with all the features other similar readers possess. The screen is excellent and responsive to touch and battery life excellent. I would buy another one in preference to other brands again especially with a Reader Store opening in the UK in the near future.
Love the new Sony Reader. Very light and easy to use. Great features. Got me back into the habit of reading instead of just blobbing in front of the TV. Wonderfully portable, great for a quick read whilst waiting for appointments, waiting in queues or just chilling out in the lunch hour. Great to have a huge range of books available to you on the move and especially useful for those holidays when you just want to relax with a book or two.
The first time I use this tool and while all happy: page turning function not only key but using the touch screen, the presence of dictionaries easier to read foreign literature in the original, drawing function facilitates interlocutor clearly explain anything ... Of inconvenience for my character and habits can be identified:lack of accessories when buying an adapter to charge from a power socket; lack of accessories when buying an adapter for charging from a wall outlet, it is desirable to increase the internal memory to at least 4 GB, the ability to create a different background color screen and its brightness and sharpness (clarity).
Holds lots of books, great font size choices and good memory capacity
