The All-American Five Radio book goes straight to the point book on how to fix that old tube radio. This book will tell you just about everything you need to know get that 5 tube radio up and playing again. There is an overview on resistors, capacitors, coils and tubes. The author uses the RCA model number 9x561 or the 9x562. The only difference in the two is the color of the case. (For your information the radio on the front cover is not the RCA radio that used as the example in the book.) The RCA 9x561 was for me an easy radio to find. I found my first one on eBay. Although you don’t need to use the exact model as used in the book, I believe it made it easier for that first time over haul. The operation of the radio is broken down in chapter sections. Within each chapter the author tells you how each section of the radio works. There is both an image of the wiring and a schematic of each section. By having these two diagrams together this helps the reader understand a radio schematic. You also learn how to evaluate your radio by doing resistance and voltage testing. The author spends about a page on soldering. To me soldering is a very important step in the process. So either you know how to solder or you need to practice. Safety and proper test equipment is also mentioned. I give this book a five star rating because my RCA 9x561 is now playing!Vollständige Rezension lesen
