Product Information

The cross-platform sequel to Capcom's 2006 Xbox 360 hit delivers more fast-paced, third-person action in a survival-horror setting. Similar to the original game, Dead Rising 2 is all about one man against a swarming horde of hungry zombies, and how that one man survives by creatively using everyday objects to perform acts of great and gratuitous violence against these slow-but-relentless pursuers. The hero of Dead Rising 2 is a former pro motocross rider named Chuck Greene, who finds himself in the fictional entertainment capital of Fortune City when the zombie outbreak hits there. The open "sandbox" adventure does not play out in a shopping mall, as the first Dead Rising, but the Las Vegas-like setting of the city provides ample walkways and plenty of open, consumer-oriented spaces, which quickly fill with hungry walking dead.

The sequel is designed to accommodate as many as five or six thousand zombies on screen at once -- more than seven times the top number in the original game. As Chuck racks up the zombie smack-downs, he earns "Prestige Points," which eventually allow him to become more powerful. New improvised weapons become available as Chuck gains prestige and levels up, including combination weapons. Duct-taping two chainsaws to the ends of a kayak paddle yields an effective tool for slicing through a sea of zombies, for example, and taping a hand grenade to a football allows the athletically inclined hero to throw a real bomb, both figuratively and literally. Several other possible combinations become available to players as Chuck hacks and slashes his way through the macabre adventure.

The Best Buy exclusive includes a code to download the "Sports Fan Skills Pack," which unlocks new abilities for Chuck.

  • Best Zombie Killing Game to Date!

I LOVED Deadrising so when I heard that there was a second in the series, I knew I had to get it. When I finally got it in the mail, I quickly opened the shipping box to find a relatively large box as far as xbox games go. Once you open up the game, you will find not only the game itself in a metal case, but you'll find a nice assortment of zombrex reading material and a REAL DOSE OF ZOMBREX! Not really, but you will find a pen that looks like it could be with a zombrex brand band aid. As far as gameplay goes, it is quite similar to Case Zero if you happened to have downloaded that a little while back off of the xbox marketplace. I have just started to get into the game, but from what I can tell it is a solid quality game with great zombie graphics and seems to keep pretty true to that ...

  • AMAZING! But Maybe Not For All

To be honest, the first Dead Rising never peaked my interest much more than going out into the mall or parking structures to kill zombies. But this sequel has, by far, outdone the original. I enjoy the story line, the psychopaths are fun and frustrating. It's no longer about having to take photo's, just kicking some a$$. Online play is lagless. I have had no problems online other than finding a match, if I search for a match at the right time I have no problem. Though, I should mention this, I can go to a friend's house who has a better IP and he finds matches right away. So it's only my bad luck there. And not to mention that ranked matches only give you money to spend in the game to just blow. Combination weapons are hilarious. I mean, hilarious! Especially when the most ...

  • great zombie game? or Greatest zombie game?

I guess starting off, if you like zombie games, you are in one of two camps. Left for Dead series or Dead Rising series. From the reviews i've read, there is not much middle ground. You either love Left for Dead or Dead Rising.I will not draw comparisons because they are two totally different games. That being said, lets review Dead Rising 2. First the good. This game is bigger, more area, more zombies, more weapons and friends to play with thanks to online play.Playing with a friend makes this game alot more fun for doing the story or just messing around as well.Taking pictures is gone and replaced with the combo system which lets you combine two different items to make a more powerful weapon to use on the undead. The zombies seem to me more intense this time around. This can easily be a 60+ ...

  • Good zombie killings

It's a very good game, since I was a teenager I wanted to have this edition in my hands.

  • Steel book cases are better than plastic!

True gamers like myself are kinda weird.Special Editions in games are nothing more than a way to waste your money. That doesn't matter to me anyway..I prefer steel cases over the plastic any day. Throw in an artbook, statue, DLC...and it's Baller Time!
