    I can heartily recommend this book and I would certainly buy it again!

    I own a few books that I read about once a year...this is one of them. For several years I had an older edition and when this one came out, I felt I had to have it and I have not been disappointed. This book is pretty much a one stop course in using a map and compass. The information is clear and concise. "Be Expert With Map & Compass" is not only a good book for beginners, older heads can find it useful as well. I first learned map and compass in 1966 and I find this book useful for staying sharp with my map and compass skills. I even learned a couple of new tricks the first time I read it. Everything considered, I like the book a lot and I have great respect for Mister Kjellstrom's expertise! His daughter wrote the updates and she is quite knowledgeable as well.     awesome book for the person with little to no knowledge of maps and map usage

    This book would be excellent for scout leaders youth camp leaders and people who want to learn how to use a map and compass but have little to no prior knowledge. The book is written in an easy to follow step by step format. each chapter building off the previous chapter. The instructions are easy to follow and there are plenty of practical exercises in each section to apply the concepts chapter by chapter. If you can use a map and compass already this boob will probably be nothing new.

    Does a great job

    I wanted to get better at using a map and compass and was looking for a good beginning book to get me there (pun intended). This book did it! Easy to read and understand. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to navigate better.

    Excellent book to have

    This is an excellent book to learn how to use a map and compass. Lots of information on Orienteering. However, I haven't finished the book yet and I found three mistakes. But I still recommend this book.

    Easy to follow information

    Good book for the beginner or those wanting to be more experienced in map and compass techniques this is the book you need with easy to follow illustrations.
