I originally bought Moon Child because Hyde from L'Arc~en~ciel and Gackt (formerly Malice Mizer) were in it. I read mixed reviews from Amazon and became intrigued. The premise of the movie being a bit in the future and running a drugged pizza restaurant was not that appealing, but I risked buying the movie anyway. It turned out to have some exceptional acting, drama, humor, and a good connection between the characters. The action sequences involve lots of guns, high jumping vampires, and some humorous lines. Overall the action was not the best original action scenes, but can be appreciated. The romance between the characters was done very well. Hyde plays our Angsty vampire, and Gackt plays a protege to him. I really enjoyed the film and was surprised myself. I think he painting in the movie was the philosophical part of it( if you watch you will understand). Overall it has everything good bunched up into one! I plan on watching it again, hope you enjoy Moon Child!Vollständige Rezension lesen
I originally purchased this movie for my daughter who is a fan of Gackt and Hyde (mostly Hyde). She watched the movie and thought I would like it, and informed me it had quite the ending. Overall the script was well written and sophisticated. With some fresh twists, the story line never seemed contrived. Dynamic visuals from costumes to scenery engaged the eye, and I fell in love with the aesthetics of the characters and their environment. On the downside, I think the movie became repetitive in places and drawn out. I like a long movie, but the slow repetitive points came off more like filler than pertinent, doing a disservice to what could have been an excellent work. It is almost like the makers ran out of time and/or money and produced the piece "as is" without polish and better editing. I would not, however, let this deter me from purchasing the movie. It is definitely a keeper! I just can't get over that never dirty or damaged white coat. :-)Vollständige Rezension lesen
I had actually decided to buy this movie for a friend of mine, but when i received it I wanted to watch it for myself. This show has two of my favorite japanese rock singers in it: Gackt and Hyde. Both of these singers were great in their first acting together(at least i believe this was their first). The movie itself was very action filled but touching at the same time. It's the story of a vampire who wishes to die, but lives long enough to raise a poor boy (and later the boy's daughter). Of course there's more to the plot, but it would take me too long to explain it all, just watch it for yourself. There are fighting scenes that are both humerous and kick-butt, and there are touchy-feely moments that make you want to cry. the movie was all in japanese with english subtitles.(just fyi) I recommend this movie to anyone that would like an action/comedic/romantic movie and could tolerate the japanese. (or if you like gackt or hyde, they rock in this movie) the end :)Vollständige Rezension lesen
This movie had some moments, but for the most part didn't deliver. I watched it because of my interest in Hyde, but his role in 'Last Quarter' is far more adept. This film was supposedly about a vampire who falls in love, but the love story came down to this: one long, yearning glance between the two characters, that's it. Plus for a vampire movie, there was surprisingly little blood-drinking- only twice did he get a bite in. It almost seemed like the director couldn't figure out what he wanted this film to be about. There is a lot of interesting gun play, in Asian-karate movie style with impossible leaps and movements... BTDT, yawn. And I couldn't help but wonder, 'why would a vampire even be using a gun?' This film only mildly held my interest and the ending was annoyingly inexplicable. Wasn't exactly a waste of time, but didn't blow my skirt up either.Vollständige Rezension lesen
The first reason I bought this was because Gackt and HYDE were both featured and I wanted some actual vampires after seeing Twilight. Co-written by Gackt himself, the movie is about a boy named Sho(Gackt) who grows up with the vampire Kei (Hyde). They end up in the crime business and fall in love with the same girl, then Kei eventually leaves. Years pass and Sho becomes a leader of an organized crime group and Kei is put on death row. Well, not that you get the basics, time for my actual review. The movie was great. Gackt and HYDE were amazing, so was the rest of the cast. The CG wasn't exactly five star animation, but the story of the friendships and heartbreaks completely null any CG problems. The script was well written so nothing was bland. I was quite fond of that giant koi fish that kept showing up when Sho's brother got high, once more, not the best animation, but it was a comedic relief from the quite serious plot of the movie. The gunfight scenes were nicely done and Kei never wasted a second showing off his awesome vampire powers. This is a movie I can watch a million times over.Vollständige Rezension lesen
