I have been using various GPS units for going on 20 years now. Garmin has always been my favorite, and this one is no exception. It has a ton of useful features, traffic sensing/avoiding, easy to use destination searching, bluetooth linking to phone (which makes the calling a hotel/restaurant you just searched for easy), even adding 3rd party POI (Points of Interest) is easy. I personally have added a 34rd party Red Light/Speed Camera warning system and all the Harley Davidson dealers in the US into the database. My only complaint about the unit, as compared to my previous Garmin units, is with the sound. I wish they didn't take away the manual "wheel dial" to adjust the volume of the unit. You can adjust the volume, but you have to go to a specific menu and raise or lower it there. More annoying is that while the turn by turn directions, red light camera warnings, even the volume from playing an MP3 song is set perfectly, when I am talking on my phone via the bluetooth link, about 75% of the time, the volume is WAY TOO LOW (even when I have it set to 100%). I'm not sure it is the unit itself, or how it is linked to my iPhone, but my old Garmin did not have this problem, nor can I seem to resolve this issue.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I really like just about everything about this unit. it's compact. I can easily read it while sitting in its holder attached to my windshield. Sometimes the charging cord is a bit cumbersome, especially when plugged in and in the way of hitting first gear in my car. Sometimes the unit doesn't totally find my destination. The hourglass icon keeps looking but won't give me written directions. All in all, It gets me where I want to go. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Battery is pretty much gone. I have not been able to update maps yet but still looking. This is what you need to be aware when you buy a used GPS. On the other hand, it does its job with 2012 maps and permanently connected power. It is ok for the price.

The Good: - Like ALL Garmin GPS, easy to use with simple Touchscreen commands - Bright and Easy to read 4.3" LCD screen. - Easy to install (windshield). Alternative Dash mounts available - Catches satellite signal quickly and updates movement rapidly. Recalculates directions if you miss a turn or exit - Many features including Live traffic alerts (with included GTM 25 receiver/vehicle charger) - BIG list of POI's (also see Bad below) - While many newer cars are Bluetooth capable, this unit offers Bluetooth capability for older cars and, especially, for Rental cars (which many don't have) - Spoken and Text Language possibilities, including Spanish, French and Most European languages - International maps available The Bad: - No FREE map updates. Map updates are expensive, especially if you live in new construction areas. Also, POI's are obviously get outdated (yeah that restaurant closed 2 years ago) - Need more warning time for turns and exits - Like many other GPS, this is primarily used for driving. Battery life is not great to use as hand-held for city pedestrian. Use your smartphone for that The Ugly: - The battery may FINALLY fail and is NOT SIMPLE TO REPLACE without potentially destroying the GPS circuitry. Not subjecting unit to HEAT or COLD will extend the battery life. However, even with a dead battery, the GPS will continue to work when hooked up to a power source (in a car or even wall charger) Summary: Have been discontinued by manufacturer. While these are around with working batteries, they are great buys as used items. Eventually, almost all acrs will have built-in GPS. Until then this is a great gadget to have for the cost, especially for vacation travelVollständige Rezension lesen

Bought a Garmin Nuvi 265WT back in 10/09. Been using it since. I went to Lubbock Texas and was looking for a Chevron gas station and it was recently closed, not bad. The next time it did this i was near Alpine or Grand Junction, Colorado, I was searching for a Chevron and it lead me to a house in the middle of no where. Regular updates are very necessary and mine was up to date at the time. When nearing an exit or offramp it tells you which direction to turn at last minute when there is north and south or east and west, can be frustrating. Also, it names exits by there idetification number ex: 25A, 12B mostly and not the street name. I was using this on 8/21/12 and it showed me the correct exit with the wrong street name. The name of the street was different for both east and west and the east street name was not on the sign post. When i got off the freeway and came from the south, then it showed the correct street name. Northbound had it's street name to the west and Southbound had it's name to the east. Should have just said to take this exit and then go left or east onto correct street, who programmed this, someone who knew the area. For finding places to eat, banks, recreation, shopping, etc. does a pretty good job and gives you a telephone number of the business. Please keep in mind that if you use the search option, sometimes for certain places it can take a while to find and does not always list all the locations of a certain place of business happen there be more than one. Used another GPS from Magellan and this gave clearer and more precise instructions before a last minute turn. It also had a walking gps and car. Never really used the traffic option, yet i do live in Southern CA All in all, the Garmin saved me a lot of times from being completely lost. Garmin should update their updates more frequently due to new construction of streets and businesses.Vollständige Rezension lesen
