The fifth title in Pivotal Games' squad-based "Conflict" series takes players into the aftermath of a military coup that plunges Venezuela into civil war. Gamers take control two different members of the CIA's Special Activities Division, the hardened veteran Graves, and the exuberant newcomer Lang, as they travel deep behind enemy lines on three continents attempting to prevent the brutal new dictator from acquiring nuclear weapons. The Denied Ops portion of the title comes from the depth of their clandestine activities: if any member is captured, all links to the U.S. will be denied.<br><br>Though the action is primarily handled like a first-person shooter, players can instantly alternate between both characters to take advantage of their individual skills, provide covering fire, or set up an enemy-shredding fusillade. A variety of different weapons allow players to approach the game in the manner they see fit, like using silenced weapons and Graves' sniper skills to maneuver quietly, or taking advantage of Lang's arsenal of heavy machinery to blow enemies to bits. Gamers can also take control of armored personnel carriers, tanks, and hovercrafts, or call in air support from F-22 fighter jets and AH-64D Apache helicopters.<br><br>Most of the action in Denied Ops takes the form of massive firefights that allow the game to showcase its highly destructible environments. Players can demolish entire buildings, turn vehicles into flaming metal shells, or strategically use their weapons to carve out escape routes, attack covered enemies, and shoot through their own cover. Gamers can undertake the main campaign alone or team up with a friend in two-player co-op online and split-screen modes. Further multiplayer support lets up to four split-screen players or 16 online players battle it out in Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Conquest Mode.

A "Has It All" Upgrade To Conflict Global Terror
If you have played Conflict Global Terror , you know that there are only 4 players (controllable) involved in both the Single Player & Multiplayer modes. In Denied Ops this has all been upgraded even though there are only 2 players controllable in the Single Player Mode - (Graves & Lang) , to allow up to 16 players in the Multiplayer Modes. With that in mind , there is also a Co-Op Mode that allows 2 Players to join together in any Player's Campaign , at any point that any host wants to. Co-Op Mode is not available in other games and can allow any player to attain a level that they are having trouble with. "The reviews are not accurate" - as , right from the start you will notice a much larger playing field that is intense throughout. Also noted from the start is that you no longer ... Also noted from the start is that you no longer pick up weapons as you proceed , but you have "weapon boxes" that will replenish all of your needs with a single use - placed throughout the gameplay in many areas. The gameplay remains very much the same as Global Terror , in that - you proceed as a team of 2 in the Single Player mode and have full control of either player upon demand. Basically , the team is made up of a heavy gunner and a sniper - of which Graves is the veteran sniper and Lang is the young apprentice heavy gunner. Intense action throughout is not limited to any sort of "blow it all up" activity as some video's suggest. If anything - there is a lesser amount of ability to blow it all up in 1 shot , as there is in Global Terror. As you progress through the game you come to realize how far you have come , only when you reach objectives and are assigned the next objective. With 4 levels of gameplay - Easy - Normal - Hard & Extreme , there is no "walkthrough , shootem up" action , as the AI changes depending on the setting , adding more difficulty by increasing both the intensity and numbers of enemy accordingly. Still , there is a need to be aware of your other team member's health , that can be brought back (time limited) and requires no reloading or "health packs". This is a very integral part of the game that adds so much more difficulty with only 2 team members in Single Player Mode. Since the game is directly related and still in line with Global Terror , as part of a series , I give this game full marks for it's improvement (10 of 10). Due to the fact that the game is much larger in scope , I couldn't find fault or reason to demote my opinion. I found no such animal in Denied Ops. In fact , there wasn't 1 glitch , other than the odd stab or error in gameplay. The game is just as stable and playable as Conflict Global Terror. Compared to other games that have loading problems between maps and countless numbers of mods , this game is head and shoulders above them for "playability". A sequel to Denied Ops would be difficult to compile , as this game has it all. Don't believe the reviews - somehow , they are all biased and overrated. What does "Denied Ops" mean? - Ops , that will be denied to exist , if any mission fails.

Pretty Cool
It took a short time to get used to controlling two partners on the same missions but after I did I totally got into the possibilities. Each team mate has different capabilities and using those skills gets to be fun. It's a little repetitive but most FPS games get to be like that. The weapons get stale also-not much variety there. But for $10 it's more than worth it.

I bought this game, after I read reviews on gamespot.com. I was not happy with the website score but still decided to buy this game since the screenshots looked really good and some user scores were much higher. I have to say that gamespot was WAY WAY WAY off and the score they gave it needs to be reivewed or maybe the guy/gal who played it was having a bad day or got their butt kicked by playing on the extreme mode. I think the graphics are really really great. The effects and environment damage you can do are by far the best Ive played till date. They place drums and fuel cans right where the enemies are and its a treat to blow stuff up.... a very satisfying experience!! I would rate this game a 8 or 9 out of 10. Story line is pretty good, 10 short missions but filled with ... I bought this game, after I read reviews on gamespot.com. The only thing is the AI is a little predictable on the lower skill levels. Weapons are limited but you tend to develop a liking and a knack for one or the other. You cannot swap guns during the game or pick up enemies guns like in most games.,... but you have....get ready for this..........UNLIMITED AMMO!!!! woo hoo!! Only the reloading times are a pain. BTW this game is afor mature players only. There is a lot of strong language thats very open....never heard this in a game before... and the blood/gore level is pretty realistic. Rag doll efffect is also really good. So parents dont let your little kids play this, would not recommend it... well maybe in a few years :). In summary... the main take away from this game.... Environment Damage...explosions galore...unlimited ammo... great story line....likeable characters.....excellent gameplay... superb graphics....very very different feel from most first person shooters.... The only bad things....there is not one single chick in the entire game :) and they could have got a little creative with the music!!! I paid like $6 including shipping while bestbuy is currently selling this for 29.99. IF you get a deal on ebay, this game si a must have for all FPS fans. Happy Gaming!!

Conflict: Denied Ops (PC Game, 2008)
Bought Conflict: Denied Ops for myself. Loaded it to play, but could not get any sound. Loaded it in my wife's PC, it ran okay. (Sound and all) So for now, I'll just wait until I play some more of my games, then load it back up and work on the sound probem again. Seens like a good game to play.
