Highly recommended!
Why didn't this film do better at the box office? I think viewers will be disappointed if they expect a parody (it's dead serious!) or a slasher/horror flick (there are bloody vampire attacks, but they are interspersed with history and romance). The closest film I can compare it to is INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE. Both are historical epics with vampires; both feature lavish costumes and good acting, and both draw parallels between the vampire situation and other social issues of the time period covered. ABRAHAM LINCOLN, VAMPIRE HUNTER also has some incredible action scenes, particularing Abe fighting a vampire in the midst of a herd of stampeding horses. "Gone with the Wind" with fangs and I loved it. Moving, emotional, epic.
Okay, so let me say that I'm not a vampire movie fan. This is not a movie I would have normally picked to see, but a friend of mine's son worked on the film and his wife had an art piece used in the film, so I had to see it. Drag me... if you will. What a surprise. It was much more than a silly old vampire movie. It was like "Gone with the Wind" with fangs and I loved it. Moving, emotional, epic. Plausible story premise and lots of great scenes. I liked so many parts of it, they're too many to mention. Since I don't see vampire films in my regular movie choices, this was actually superb entertainment. The story works, the special effects work, and darn it, I liked it. Who'd a thunk it. I Don't Know About Everybody Else, But I Loved It!
The movie was amazing. It made sense. Very engaging and not many slow moments if any at all. It takes elements of the ideal "classic" vampire but makes it more realistic. Good watch. Im a fan.

If you like the Vampire movie the "Priest", then you will Love this movie. Stunning high visual and heavy hitting action. Beautiful period wardrobe and stunning period sets. A-list acting from all actors. Superior script that works. Don't be put off by the Lincoln idea, the script actually works...and the young man selected to perform Lincoln does a damn good job of it, from start to finish. This movie has some of the most stunning balls-to-wall action. This movie is different and takes you to another place and time. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie. You will not be disappointed.If you like the Vampire movie the "Priest", then you will Love this movie. Stunning high visual and heavy hitting action. New take on Vampire movies, better than expected.
Well to say the least this is a different spin on vampire movies, I don't want to spoil the plot but the movie kept pace and action was sprinkled throughout. Amusing take on our past history, I saw this in the movies on my birthday when it first came out and usually like it better when I get the dvd and watch it at home but I did like this one in the movies first. If you are into vampire flicks than this one is not a B grade type movie, they did do a good job especially during the war episodes, I think you will enjoy this and it will be money well spent.Well to say the least this is a different spin on vampire movies, I don't want to spoil the plot but the movie kept pace and action was sprinkled throughout.
