Unfortunately I have to leave negative feedback for this user. This is an international seller. Estimated delivery date in the listing was November 15th, however, the tracking information was never updated after November 10th. Seller provided a tracking # but the item never left "pre-shipment" status. So either the seller never shipped the item or the package was lost. Seller kept asking for more time instead of doing the right thing. Ebay stepped in and issued the refund. Bad communication.

Why you should buy a Used hard drive?
This hard drive is a great all purpose storage. I like the size of it, small to today's standards but yet great enough to store those special folders, for games or picture memories. I purchased this particular drive to remove the pc board from it and put on my hard drive, which quit working; In order to save the information. It is an identical drive. I actually installed it in my home built computer system as a second drive instead. These drives can be used very easily as an external drive. All you need is an adapter from Sata or IDE to USB, which are easily found on eBay. This way you can take it from one computer to another like a USB stick. It is best to build a box to put the hard drive in if you decide to do this, so as make sure it is protected from someone touching the pc board and ... This hard drive is a great all purpose storage. They can be used as a flash drive, or just an extra drive to give you a little more storage when buying a huge drive would be just too much money. If you run out of space on your old drive, just decide how much more space do you need? Then buy A used drive to increase the size as a helper. If all you wish you had is 20 or 30 gigabytes more than a 40 gigabyte hard drive would be plenty. Just get a USB adapter for it so you don't have to crack open your computer case. Besides you are helping the environment by recycling.Look now and do a search and see how much money you can save.

Might be a fine drive...but it does not work for my applications.
I bought this 40 GB Seagate, and another identical unit from another Ebay seller, and also two 80 GB Western Digital drives from two other sellers all for the express purpose of using them in pull out caddies in an ALESIS HD24 Hard Drive Multitrack recorder in my home studio. None of the 4 above mentioned drives will mount up in the HD24. I am not saying there is a problem with the drives as I have read on Alesis message boards that the HD24 is picky about hard drives that work in it. I got the unit with a 40 GB Maxtor in it, which works, and later got a Seagate 80 GB and an off-brand (do not remember the name) 80 GB which I use in three other caddies, and they all work fine, so I had no reason to doubt these Seagate 40 and WD 80 GB drives would not work. I later decided to get an ... I may try another brand of external enclosure or if I can get hold of a junker computer to experiment on, but I am not going to tear my main computer down just to try to get these drives working. I probably should have sent them back to the sellers, but I waited too long, thinking I could use them for some other application. I can not say that I would recommend the Seagate 40 GB drive at all, because I have yet to be able to use them for anything.

This is an excellent hard drive for beginners. It is quiet and quick. It's 40 Gig size is small per the demands of those who need a lot of space, but is great for those who don't require a massive amount of storage space. It also works very well as a secondary hard drive. I use mine to store digital photos and find it very useful

Quite and fast
I got this drive for a relative of mine. Great upgrade for a 9 yr old computer. I ordered this drive because of the very low price and because my previous experience with them were good. I owned a dimension 4600 for 6 years and had the same drive and never had any issues with. If I need another small drive I will go with this type again. I prefer Seagate to Maxtor because my time with Maxtor was not as positive as Seagate. For this reason alone I always stick to Seagate.I got this drive for a relative of mine.
