I bought this book because the author is a major contributor to the Clean Eating magazine, which is excellent. The book contains nice photos of the recipes - though not as many photos as there are of the author. Many of the recipes list ingredients such as: dark organic sulta raisins, unsalted jungle peanuts, Goji Berries, sucanant, or tamari. These ingredients are difficult to find and, in my opinion, many are ridiculously specific. There are about a dozen recipes I'll actually try. I was hoping, based on the title, for some portions to be kid-friendly reading. Or recipes that kids can make themselves. Instead, there are countless testimonials purportedly from readers of her previous book including a particularily gross one that begins, "Well it is about time someone finally told me what to eat."(page 119) That reader goes on to detail her son's constipation-induced weeping, and her daughter's pimples that were caused by being "plugged up with bad food." It is presented as if the author assumes it is normal for all her readers to stand outside the bathroom listening helplessly to a weeping child trying to make poopie, while desparately wishing for a book to tell us how to eat. I suspect that most people are more savy than that. The author focuses, and re-focuses, on sending her 11-year-old daughter away to live at an elite ballet school, while simuntaneously berating the strangers who are now raising her child for not feeding the little girl dark organic sulta raisins and unsalted jungle peanuts. Honestly, I find more family-friendly recipes in the Clean Eating magazine. I'll buy more editions of the magazine, but not more of Tosca Reno's books. The magazine gives the feeling of sharing good recipes with an acquaintance, this book exudes Tosca Renos' narcissism.Vollständige Rezension lesen
This book is great! I am fairly new to learning the benefits of eating clean and now I am getting my 5 year old to eat good. This book describes the real ugly side of what is in our food today and it made me even more aware of what I buy and feed my child. I thought I was doing okay but after reading the information presented I am more determined to make clean eating my child's way of life. The book tells you how to read labels, how to eat out, good recipes, and many other tidbit information that makes you aware of what you are putting into your mouth. My favorite part of the book was when Tosca talks about the cereal isle in the grocery stores. I learned a lot about the food industry. If there is a downside to the book it would be some of the ingredients that are listed. But if you are serious about changing your way of life to eat healthier I totally recommend this book!Vollständige Rezension lesen
I got this book as a way to help my family eat more healthy, and we love it! It's got great recipes in it and helps explain why eating clean is so important. For the most part we like all the meal suggestions and my 1 year old will eat them as well!
I bought this book because I have a picky 13-year old eater in the family. This book has alot of good basics, tht have been made alot more healthy for everyone to eat. I have tried several of the recipes and even the picky one has given some good reviews. This is a good book to experiment and get the whole family eating better and more healthy. I will continue to try more recipes from this book. Definitely a good buy for a family who has children and picky eaters of any age. Highly recommend for families.
Great for families.
