A former slave and a German bounty hunter become unlikely allies in the battle against a tyrannical plantation owner in this western from visionary director Quentin Tarantino. Two years before the Civil War pits brother-against-brother, German-born fugitive hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award-winner Christoph Waltz) arrives in America determined to capture the outlaw Brittle brothers dead or alive. In the midst of his search, Dr. Schultz crosses paths with Django (Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx), a freed slave and skilled tracker who seeks to rescue his beloved wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) from ruthless plantation owner Calvin Candie (Academy Award-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio). Once Django has aided Dr. Schultz in coralling the Brittle brothers, the two team up to capture some of the most wanted men in the South. Meanwhile, Django never loses sight of his mission to free Broomhilda from the treacherous slave trade before it's too late. Upon arriving at Candie's nefarious plantation, dubbed Candyland, Django and Dr. Schultz discover that slaves are being groomed for gladiator-like competitions by Candie's malevolent right-hand man Billy Crash (Walton Goggins), and together they skillfully work their way onto the compound for a closer look. But just as Django and his partner locate Broomhilda and plot a daring escape, Candie's house slave Stephen (Academy Award-nominee Samuel L. Jackson) catches wind of their plan, and informs his master of the betrayal. Now, as a clandestine organization attempts to back them into a corner, Django and Dr. Schultz will have to come out with pistols blazing if they ever hope to free Broomhilda from Candyland and the clutches of its vile proprietor.

Unlike many of QT's films - Django Unchained has quite a simple plot.
Django Unchained is truly one of the best movies of 2012. It's excellently directed/written by the great Quentin Tarantino and thoroughly acted by Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Chrisoph Waltz. It's another masterpiece by Tarantino, alongside Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. The characters are clever and unique, the dialogue is inventive and witty, the storyline is thought-out and the action scenes and shootouts are really bloody but really kick-a*s and have you at the edge of your seat. Before I saw this movie, I was worried about the violence and gore because too much bloody scenes disturbs me but I was able to handle it. In fact, it actually entertaining! Some of the close-ups and shootouts reminded me of Clint Eastwood's westerns of The Man With No Name. The film ... Django Unchained is truly one of the best movies of 2012. But at least it won 2 for Best Writing and Best Supporting Actor. But I wish DiCaprio and Jackson could've been nominated for an Oscar as well. In conclusion, if you're a fan of Tarantino and westerns, you'll love this movie!

DJANGO UNCHAINED is an awesome movie you won't be disappointed

Good video. Excellent movie. Amazing performances. I only wish my copy included the slipcover. Slipcovers are collectibles.

Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington and Samuel L. Jackson star in Quentin Tarantino's 2012 action western. A bounter hunter helps a slave rescue his wife from a corrupt plantation owner. Jamie and Christoph are great together and it's nice to see Leo play a villain. This 2-disc set has nice picture and sound plus some neat featurettes. This is a good film that pays tribute to many classic westerns only adding blood and profanity which is usual for Tarantino, but ok. I recommend this.Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington and Samuel L. Jackson star in Quentin Tarantino's 2012 action western. Don't Judge this Tarantino Film by Another!! This One was Different than what I Expected.
My first thought was that this movie would be a typical Quentin Tarantino bloodbath film; to my amazement, not so much. Yes, it does have some blood scenes however the story and the actors were so engaging that I tended to be somewhat forgiving of what little gore there was. The language was not all that great though but don't let it keep you from watching. It took me 2 years to breakdown and finally watch this classic in which, I'm so glad I did. I loved this film to the point that I bought a copy!!My first thought was that this movie would be a typical Quentin Tarantino bloodbath film; to my amazement, not so much.
