First of all, I have been playing guitar for about 50 years, so I was playing when the first wahs hit the market and I had both the first Cry Babys and Vox pedals. I still have a Vox 846 "Made in Italy by the Thomas Organ Company. This Hendrix pedal is VERY close in tone and use to the origionals. The Hendrix pedal is designed to filter out the earsplitting highs and has a shorter "distance to wah" ratio so you do not have to move the pedal as much to get the wah effect. It also has a very vocal tone to it. All in all this is a very nice pedal and very usable and I plan to use it frequently. I could not find out if it has a true bypass switch for when you have it turned off, so I plan to install one myself and the only drawback that I have found on it is the battery compartment door. It is made of a hard/brittle plastic and the locking mechanism broke on mine. I tried unsuccessfully to super glue it. Then I found some on Ebay and bought 2 for about $8.00 ea. with shipping. One for a spare. Otherwise I would have given this pedal 5 stars. Thanks, MikeVollständige Rezension lesen
A lot of the modern Crybabys have a really shrill tone that is piercing to the ears, in the toe position. But this one has that nice warm throaty bassy old school tone. Love it :D

it's a wah. Not much different than my ole cry baby maybe a bit quieter but not any better. A cry baby is just as good and might even get more treble. on it. Having Hendrix name on it doesn't make it any better but probably cost more.

The low end sauce on this helps to reduce squealing...very classic wah sound, great with distortion or overdrive.
