Koei's hack-and-slash series set in Japan's Warring States era spins off into the handheld market for the first time in Samurai Warriors: Chronicles. Developed exclusively for the 3DS, Samurai Warriors: Chronicles features a revamped "Story" mode that allows gamers to create their own character and guide him or her through the battlefields of feudal Japan, meeting and befriending 40 famous warriors from the era, including Nobunaga Oda and Yukimura Sanada. The game also features a new character-switching mechanic that lets players jump between four different warriors with a simple swipe of the touch screen.<br><br>Basic combat is handled through a combination of normal attacks and power attacks, but as gamers build up their Spirit Gauge they can deploy the Spirit Charge to break through enemy blocks and take on opposing officers. Characters also have individualized special skills that include power-ups, health recovery, and ranged attacks, and each character can also perform unbreakable combos by filling their Musou Gauge and performing a Musou Attack. A Morale system indicates which side is feeling confident in victory, and players who finish a stage with high morale earn rewards that include weapons, items, and improved character attributes. Multiplayer fans can use the 3DS's StreetPass feature to swap weapons with local friends and engage in four-on-four battles, while the SpotPass function lets gamers download additional playable levels at any wireless hotspot.

Fun game, no major downsides. A lot of game in your pocket!
This is a neat game. I had no problem getting into the story, learning the major people during this turbulent time in Japan. Its plays exactly like Dynasty Warriors, same mission style etc. I wanted to bring a game with a lot of content with me when I bring my 3DS places, and found out there was a Samurai Warriors game. I was stoked, and had to find a copy ASAP. I guess the downside of the game is the amount of "pop-up" that the game does with the enemies, as a fair portion of the time you will be running forward and a dozen or so dudes will spawn right next to you. In reality, this game is on par with the PS2 versions, Graphics are similar, gameplay is similar. 3DS features include Multiplayer, Spotpass challenges, 3D function to give it depth, and the ability to issue commands to up ... A solid, complete gaming experience. A true masterpiece.
Samurai Warriors Chronicles is a superb title. Other Koei Warriors titles have been all over the map, ranging from horrible to excellent, but this is one of the finest games I have ever played. The graphics are clear, the gameplay is nothing short of exemplary, and the game fixes every gripe I've had about previous Warriors games. Easily over a hundred hours worth of content, dozens of unique characters to play as, and a story that really makes you care for each of the individual officers you encounter within the game. Although I do have the minor grip of being unable to get the weapons for both nameless main characters in the same playthrough, it's a minor inconvenience when you can unlock all the other weapons in the game. The after battle events add a lot of depth and character ... Samurai Warriors Chronicles is a superb title. All in all, Samurai Warriors Chronicles is an excellent title that any 3DS owner should seriously consider purchasing.

One of the few decent games for the new 3DS. Totally reccommend this!
Great Purchase! Won it through auction and couldn't be happier with the deal I got! The game is mint brand new in package. The gameplay is fun and better than what the "reviews" I've read on the net so far. I guess this hack and slash can get boring quick but so far I'm still having a blast with this. Good storyline too! hahah

A great Samurai Warriors game
It's a great samurai Warriors game, the controls are good, the graphics are clean and the story is interesting. You control 4 heroes, that you can change anytime and give orders, that mades the game much more strategic if you want to finish the missions during the fights and the game has a lot of content so can it last over 100 hours of gameplay.

Great game for the 3DS!
Great game and lengthy storyline make for a good replay value. Repetitive nature of the game may cause some frustration though. Overall, a great addition to the Dynasty Warriors style games. Streetpass and Spotpass functions are used as well, putting the 3DS to good use.
